\"FirstClarksville, TN <\/strong>– Produced by The Downtown Clarksville Association, First Thursday Art Walk is a free, self-guided tour spanning a 5-block radius that combines visual art, live music, engaging events and more in the heart of Downtown Clarksville.<\/p>\n

With 10+ venues, bars and businesses participating each month, the First Thursday Art Walk in Clarksville is the ultimate opportunity to savor and support local creative talent.<\/p>\n

First Thursday Art Walk in downtown Clarksville scheduled for July 3rd.<\/p><\/div>\n

The September Art Walk will be held September 4th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the shops and galleries on Public Square, Franklin Street, and Strawberry Alley.<\/p>\n

The participating businesses are listed below as well as a description of the work they will be exhibiting and services they will be offering during the event.<\/p>\n

The Downtown Artists Co-op (96 Franklin Street)<\/h3>\n

The DAC is an association of talented local artists and interested patrons dedicated to promoting the visual arts in the Clarksville\/Montgomery County area.<\/p>\n

Our objectives are to sponsor art exhibitions of work by Co-op members and regional artists, to provide continuing support for the Co-op and its membership through the sale of art work, to encourage arts education with outreach programs and scholarship fundraisers, and to develop membership services which directly support the arts community.<\/p>\n

Artist Information<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Downtown Artists Co-op will feature \u201cThe Art of Glenda Rohner\u201d during the September First Thursday Art Walk. Glenda has an extensive educational background in Art Therapy, Art Education, and Studio Art. She has traveled the U.S., Mexico, and Europe which has taught her to see art in materials others have \u201cleft behind.\u201d Her exhibit will include sculpture and paintings that are unique and deliver a fresh perspective on life.<\/p>\n

Please join them at the DAC Gallery, 95 Franklin Street for the opening reception on Thursday, September 4th, 5:00pm-8:00pm. As always, the opening reception is a center point of Clarksville\u2019s First Thursday Art Walk. The DAC will be serving up stunning new works of art by Tess and other members along with delightful hors d\u2019oeuvres<\/p>\n

Edward\u2019s Steakhouse (107 Franklin Street)<\/h3>\n

Edward\u2019s Steakhouse is proud to host local photographer, David Smith, during the September First Thursday Art Walk.<\/p>\n

Stop in and see the art and take in their Thursday night special, 1\/2 priced $7.00 appetizers and 2 for 1 draft drink specials.<\/p>\n

The Runner\u2019s Hub (127 Franklin Street)<\/h3>\n

The Runner’s Hub hosts group runs around Historic Downtown Clarksville every Thursday evening at 5:30pm.<\/p>\n

The Roxy Regional Theatre (100 Franklin Street)<\/h3>\n

Peg Harvill Gallery<\/strong><\/p>\n

For those who enjoy the visual arts, the Peg Harvill Gallery, located just beyond the lobby, hosts twelve shows annually featuring locally and nationally known artisans. Shows generally open the first Thursday of each month for our First Thursday Art Walk.<\/p>\n

Customs House Museum (200 S. 2nd Street)<\/h3>\n

The Customs House Museum and Cultural Center is Tennessee\u2019s second largest general interest museum. It features fine art, history, and children\u2019s exhibits.<\/p>\n

Artist Information<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Customs House Museum will host a ONE NIGHT ONLY book signing, \u201cThe Diary of Nannie Haskins Williams\u201d from 5:00pm to 8:00pm during the September First Thursday Art Walk.<\/p>\n

Books are available for purchase at the Customs House Museum, Fort Defiance Interpretive Center, Amazon.com and the APSU bookstore.<\/p>\n

\u201cTwins\u201d is the theme in the Customs House Museum\u2019s Crouch Gallery this September. Specifically, those created by Ohio artist Leslie Shiels. Twins can either be monozygotic, \u201cidentical\u201d, meaning that they develop from one zygote that splits and forms two embryos, or dizygotic, \u201cfraternal\u201d, because they develop from two separate eggs. Shiels\u2019 animals appear more as portraits within patterns of positive and negative. The bright color schemes seem to frame and emphasize Shiels\u2019 mirror-image subjects. Along with her signature hounds, the exhibition includes rabbits, turtles, and birds.<\/p>\n

Leslie has been painting for most of her life. She earned a BFA from the University in 1974. Leslie\u2019s work has been exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the United States and can be found in numerous corporate and private collections. She first exhibited at the Customs House in their Biennial National Juried Exhibition of 2012. Shiels\u2019 paintings have been featured in many publications, including The Artistmagazine and her painting titled Kennel Bound can be seen on the set of ABC\u2019s hit series “Nashville”.<\/p>\n

Also on view in September is a collaborative show by Susan Bryant and Billy Renkl. The husband and wife team from Clarksville will showcase new works in their exhibit Even When. The artists will give a gallery tour on September 17th as part of the museum\u2019s monthly Art & Lunch programming.<\/p>\n

This event is open to the public. Billy, whose work has been exhibited throughout the South, currently teaches drawing and illustration at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. Susan is a Professor of Art at Austin Peay where she has taught photography for the past 30 years.<\/p>\n

Her personal work includes gelatin silver prints, hand-colored silver prints, digital photographs, and most recently, the 19th century processes of daguerreotypes, and tintypes. She is the recipient of a Tennessee Arts Commission Fellowship. Both Susan and Billy are both represented by The Cumberland Gallery in Nashville, Tennessee.<\/p>\n

Ann Marie\u2019s Artisan Bakery (135 Franklin Street)<\/h3>\n

Ann Marie\u2019s Artisan Bakery will host Kristi Eller during the September First Thursday Art Walk. She is a local artist that paints directly onto repurposed wood pallets.<\/p>\n

Mildred & Mables (109 Franklin Street)<\/h3>\n

Mildred and Mable\u2019s is proud to present the photography of Becki Mastrian for the September First Thursday Art Walk.<\/p>\n

After nearly 30 years of photography as a hobby while supporting her military husband and raising their four children, Becki Mastrian is taking her photography in a new direction.<\/p>\n

She began attending art school and focusing on nature and landscape photography. She is in the process of opening her own business and looks forward to this opportunity to share her work publicly.<\/p>\n

She recently won several awards for her work, which will be displayed:<\/p>\n

    Olen Bryant
    \nMaking Marks: Sketches and Drawings<\/p>\n

    The Framemaker is very proud to present drawings by the award-winning artist Olen Bryant. Bryant\u2019s opening corresponds to Clarksville\u2019s First Thursday Art Walk on Thursday, September 4th. A reception will be held from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, and the exhibit will remain at The Framemaker through the month of September during normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 10:00am- 5:00pm).<\/p>\n

    Olen Bryant was born in Cookeville, Tenn. He attended Murray State University, served in the United States Army, and continued his education at the prestigious Cranbrook Academy of Art. Bryant has taught in numerous school systems, including Austin Peay State University, where served as Professor of Art from 1964 to 1991. Bryant\u2019s work has inspired generations of sculptors and artists. He is truly one of Tennessee\u2019s artistic treasures.<\/p>\n

    Olen\u2019s sculptural forms are easily recognizable expressions of the human figure. In addition to sculptures, Bryant has an extensive collection of sketches, which will be on exhibit.<\/p>\n

    The Framemaker is located at the corner of North Second Street and Georgia Avenue, across from The Clarksville Academy.<\/p>\n

    Rogate\u2019s Boutique (115 Franklin Street)<\/h3>\n

    Rogate\u2019s Boutique will stay open late during the September First Thursday Art Walk. Stop in and see how to start transitioning your wardrobe into Fall.<\/p>\n

    F&M Bank (50 Franklin Street)<\/h3>\n

    F&M Bank will host local photographer, Beverly Parker in the Franklin Room during the September First Thursday Art Walk. This show will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation.<\/p>\n
