The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.<\/p>\n<p>Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs this summer. Let us show you how to use things found on the park as gym equipment and train to use the human body how nature intended. Meet at the River Bottom Trail parking lot.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reservations By:<\/strong> 4:30pm August 17th.<br \/>\n<strong>Program Leader:<\/strong> Amy Wallace, Interpretive Specialist<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>History Hike<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> 6:30pm\u20137:30pm<br \/>\n<strong>Ages:<\/strong> 7-adult<\/p>\n<p>Learn about what Dunbar Cave used to be like \u2013 parties, dances, bowling alleys and more.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reservations By:<\/strong> 4:30pm August 17th.<br \/>\n<strong>Program Leader:<\/strong> Adam Neblett, Park Ranger<\/p>\n<h3>Thursday, August 21st<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Trees Are Terrific<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> 6:30pm\u20137:30pm<br \/>\n<strong>Ages:<\/strong> 6-adult<\/p>\n<p>Walk the lake trail with a ranger and learn about some of the common trees you can find in the park.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reservations By:<\/strong> 4:30pm August 19th.<br \/>\n<strong>Program Leader:<\/strong> Adam Neblett, Park Ranger<\/p>\n<h3>Friday, August 22nd<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Cave Entrance Habitat Study<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> 7:30pm\u20138:30pm<br \/>\n<strong>Ages:<\/strong> 6-adult<\/p>\n<p>We can\u2019t enter the cave, but we can see what we find at the cave entrance \u2013maybe salamanders, crickets, centipedes, spiders and more.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reservations By:<\/strong> 4:30pm August 20th.<br \/>\n<strong>Program Leader:<\/strong> Amy Wallace, Interpretive Specialist<\/p>\n<h3>Saturday, August 23rd<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Float The Red River<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> 8:00am\u20132:00pm<\/p>\n<p>Join us for a float down the Red River from the 41 bridge in Adams to Port Royal State Park. Cost is $30.00 per boat. Call Dunbar Cave State Park 931.648.5526 for boat availability.<\/p>\n<p>Float will include instruction of safe floating and talks about the wildlife seen along the river. 8 canoes, 7 tandem kayaks, 24 kayaks, and 6 paddle boards available. All programs require reservations by the Deadline Listed.
