In the month of August, the Museum will feature Serving Abroad: Through Their Eyes, Greg Williamson: With the Troops, Paul Harmon: Inner Voices, The Outsiders: Folk Art from the Hicks & Vander Elst Collections, Technically Speaking, My Own Backyard: The Art of Patsy Sharpe, Art & Lunch: Matisse \/ Picasso – Twin Giants of Modern Art, and Miniature Circus.<\/p>\n

Serving Abroad: Through Their Eyes<\/strong>
\nThrough September 7th<\/p>\n

A video installation by Lincoln Schatz sponsored by the US State Department and Art in Embassies. AIE commissioned renowned artist Lincoln Schatz to create a video montage incorporating audio and images selected from photographs of daily life abroad by current and former military and Foreign Service personnel. Schatz\u2019s work will later be installed as a site-specific installation for the permanent art collection in the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan.<\/p>\n

Greg Williamson: With the Troops<\/strong>
\nThrough August 31st<\/p>\n

Greg Williamson is a multimedia journalist with The Leaf Chronicle. This exhibit showcases Williamson\u2019s photography during his three weeks embedded with the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, logging many hours of flight time traveling to and from Forward Out Bases.<\/p>\n

Paul Harmon: Inner Voices<\/strong>
\nThrough September 7th<\/p>\n

International artist Paul Harmon exhibits his lyrical paintings in the Crouch Gallery. The themes of Harmon\u2019s paintings always incorporate poetry, prose and ideas from the artist\u2019s interests and experiences.<\/p>\n

The Outsiders: Folk Art from the Hicks & Vander Elst Collections<\/strong>

Robert Hicks is a collector of mostly Southern Outsider Art. He was the first Tennessean to be included in Art & Antiques magazine\u2019s Top 100 Collectors in America.<\/p>\n

Hungry for some art? Bring your lunch and enjoy this film on Matisse and Picasso. In conjunction with the exhibit Paul Harmon: Inner Voices. Free admission to program. Bagged lunches welcome.<\/p>\n

Miniature Circus<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Volunteer model train engineers have \u201cput up the Big Top\u201d for your viewing pleasure. Special activities will be featured Tuesday, August 5th from 11:00am\u20133:00pm; Wednesday, August 6th from 1:00pm\u20133:00pm; Thursday, August 7th from 11:00am\u20133:00pm.<\/p>\n

Activities are free with paid admission or Museum Membership.<\/p>\n

About the Customs House Museum<\/h3>\n

\"Customs<\/a>Located in the heart of historic downtown Clarksville, Tennessee, the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center is the State\u2019s second largest general museum.<\/p>\n

With over 35,000 square feet of the region\u2019s best hands-on activities and special events\u2026people of all ages agree \u2013 the Customs House Museum is well worth the stop!<\/p>\n

The Explorer\u2019s Gallery is packed with fun, learning and fantasy in Aunt Alice\u2019s Attic, McGregor\u2019s Market and kitchen, and of course \u2013 the Bubble Cave! Finally, get \u201call aboard\u201d to see our fantastic model trains. Our volunteer engineers \u201cride the rails\u201d every Sunday afternoon from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.<\/p>\n

Regular museum hours are 10:00am to 5:00pm Tuesday through Saturday, and 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Sundays. Adult admission is $7.00, Senior Citizens and College ID $5.00, Ages 6 to 18 $3.00, and under six years and Museum members are free.<\/p>\n
