The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.<\/p>\n<p>Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs this summer. Meet at the upper parking lot (beside the Visitor Center).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reservations By:<\/strong> 4:30pm July 8th.<br \/>\n<strong>Program Leader: <\/strong> Adam Neblett, Ranger<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Night Hike and Night Sounds*<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> 7:30pm\u20139:00pm<br \/>\n<strong>Ages:<\/strong> 5 and Up<\/p>\n<p>Come out and enjoy Port Royal State Historic Park while the park is usually closed. We will learn night sounds as well as learning many of the animals that come out after we have been in bed. The hike will be a moderate in difficulty due to terrain but we will move slowly because of the dark. Adults please have flashlights as we will try to keep the amount of light to a minimum.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reservations By:<\/strong> 4:30pm July 8th.<br \/>\n<strong>Program Leader:<\/strong> Shawn Settle, Seasonal Interpretive Ranger<\/p>\n<h3>Friday, July 11th<\/h3>\n<p><strong>What&#8217;s Bugging You? &#8211; Insects*<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> 9:00am\u201311:00am<br \/>\n<strong>Ages:<\/strong> 5 \u2013 12<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ll learn about insects with books and a DVD, then get outside to catch and release them!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reservations By:<\/strong> 4:30pm July 9th.<br \/>\n<strong>Program Leader:<\/strong> Amy Wallace, Interpretive Specialist<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Creek Stomp*<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> 10:30am\u201311:30am<br \/>\n<strong>Ages:<\/strong> 5 and Up<\/p>\n<p>Bring your water shoes and imaginations as we use nets to capture the creatures of the Swan Lake spillway. We will see what animals will show themselves and will discuss them and what their role is in the circle of life. (Younger children are also welcome to come along if you can\u2019t find a babysitter).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reservations By:<\/strong> 4:30pm July 10th.<br \/>\n<strong>Program Leader:<\/strong> Adam Neblett, Park Ranger<\/p>\n<h3>Dunbar Cave State Park Programs Information<\/h3>\n<p>Programs are free unless noted otherwise. All programs require reservations by the Deadline Listed.
