\"TheClarksville, TN<\/strong> – The Customs House Museum and Cultural Center is located in historic downtown Clarksville, Tennessee. Come explore an entire city block featuring large gallery spaces filled with fine art, science and history.<\/p>\n

In the month of June, the Museum will feature Figuratively Speaking: National Juried Exhibition, Serving Abroad: Through Their Eyes by Lincoln Schatz, Greg Williamson: With the Troops, Surroundings: The Art of Janet Felts, Paul Harmon: Inner Voices, The Outsiders: Folk Art from the Hicks & Vander Elst Collections, Art & Lunch: Gallery Talk with Greg Williamson, Farms Long Ago & Farms Today, \u201cWhat\u2019s There to Eat?\u201d, Which Came First, Chicken or Egg?, Sheep in the Meadow, Cows in the Corn and Row, Row, Row Your Boat.<\/p>\n

Serving Abroad: Through Their Eyes<\/strong>
\nThrough September 7th<\/p>\n

[320right]A video installation by Lincoln Schatz sponsored by the US State Department and Art in Embassies. AIE commissioned renowned artist Lincoln Schatz to create a video montage incorporating audio and images selected from photographs of daily life abroad by current and former military and Foreign Service personnel.<\/p>\n

Serving Abroad: Through Their Eyes by Lincoln Schatz.<\/p><\/div>\n

Schatz\u2019s work will later be installed as a site-specific installation for the permanent art collection in the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan.<\/p>\n

Greg Williamson: With the Troops<\/strong>
\nThrough August 31st<\/p>\n

Greg Williamson is a multimedia journalist with The Leaf Chronicle. This exhibit showcases Williamson\u2019s photography during his three weeks embedded with the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, logging many hours of flight time traveling to and from Forward Out Bases.<\/p>\n

Paul Harmon: Inner Voices<\/strong>
\nJuly 3rd \u2013 September 7th<\/p>\n

International artist Paul Harmon exhibits his lyrical paintings in the Crouch Gallery. The themes of Harmon\u2019s paintings always incorporate poetry, prose and ideas from the artist\u2019s interests and experiences.<\/p>\n

The Outsiders: Folk Art from the Hicks & Vander Elst Collections<\/strong>
\nJuly 10th \u2013 September 7th<\/p>\n

Robert Hicks is a collector of mostly Southern Outsider Art. He was the first Tennessean to be included in Art & Antiques magazine\u2019s Top 100 Collectors in America.<\/p>\n

Farms Long Ago & Farms Today<\/strong>
\nJuly 3rd, 11:00am\u20133:00pm<\/p>\n

We will get acquainted with what a farm is and the work it takes to get our food from the field to our tables. Did you know that long ago there were only dirt roads? Each farmer was responsible for grating the roads to keep them smooth. Come see the machine that one farmer used.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s There to Eat?\u201d<\/strong>
\nJuly 10th, 11:00am\u20133:00pm<\/p>\n

Food is on today\u2019s menu. We will print with it and play with it. Please come properly dressed for this possibly messy occasion. Did you know that during the Middle Ages, a slice of lemon was served with fish because it was thought it would dissolve any bones that were accidently swallowed?<\/p>\n

Which Came First, Chicken or Egg?<\/strong>
\nJuly 17th, 11:00am\u20133:00pm<\/p>\n

We think you\u2019ll be crowing about these egg-citing activities as you leave, and that\u2019s no yoke! Bring an egg-sized spoon and try your hand at a relay race. Don\u2019t worry; you won\u2019t get all broken up about this race. Did you know that the poem about Humpty Dumpty never mentions that he is an egg?<\/p>\n

Sheep in the Meadow, Cows in the Corn<\/strong>
\nJuly 24th, 11:00am\u20133:00pm<\/p>\n

Farm animals help keep us warm and healthy. Read the story \u201cCharlie Needs a Cloak\u201d and then make a paper weaving. Read \u201cThe Cow\u201d, by Robert Louis Stevenson; then make a picture collage of tasty foods made from milk. Did you know that a dairy cow can produce up to 125 lbs. of saliva a day?<\/p>\n

Row, Row, Row Your Boat<\/strong>
\nJuly 31st, 11:00am\u20133:00pm<\/p>\n

Come meet a former sailor who served on a submarine and one of our staff who gave tours of one. We will test to see what floats \u2013 and what does not! And meet an artist who draws and paints pictures of sailing ships. Did you know that the first military submarine, built in 1775, was named the \u201cTurtle\u201d?<\/p>\n
