\"AustinClarksville, TN<\/strong> – Last September, several sane and reasonable Austin Peay State University students closed their eyes and intentionally ran through clouds of non-toxic colored starch.<\/p>\n

When they emerged from the haze, their hair was green, their skin was blue and their clothes were covered in splotches of yellow. And, more importantly, almost all of them were smiling.<\/p>\n

Runners were showered in colors during the first Gov \u201cColor\u201d Run event in 2013. (Beth Liggett\/APSU staff)<\/p><\/div>\n

The students, along with community members, were participating in the APSU Alumni Relations Office\u2019s inaugural Gov \u201cColor\u201d Run – a one-mile run around campus through cloudbursts of color.<\/p>\n

The success of last year\u2019s event has prompted the Alumni Office to do it again, with this year\u2019s run scheduled for September 27th.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis run is all about having fun,\u201d Rylan Kean, APSU special events coordinator, said. \u201cColor stations and surprises will be set up along the way to keep the party going.\u201d<\/p>\n

The race will make use of the campus\u2019 new GOV Trails \u2013 a Tennessee Department of Health-funded project that promotes physical activity at APSU \u2013 and it will conclude at the APSU Intramural Field with a large party, featuring music and a chance to socialize.<\/p>\n

Tickets to the event are $20.00 for members of the public, and anyone who signs up during the month of June will receive a 10 percent discount. Registration<\/a> is available online<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Participants are encouraged to dress up in monocles, top hats, fake mustaches and prim suits with tails, honoring the APSU mascot, the Governor.<\/p>\n
