\"TheClarksville, TN<\/strong> – The Customs House Museum and Cultural Center is located in historic downtown Clarksville, Tennessee. Come explore an entire city block featuring large gallery spaces filled with fine art, science and history.<\/p>\n

In the month of June, the Museum will feature The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, There\u2019s No Place Like Oz, Anne Bagby: Layered Expressions, Figuratively Speaking: National Juried Exhibition, Serving Abroad: Through Their Eyes by Lincoln Schatz, Greg Williamson: With the Troops, It\u2019s All in Your Head, Draw Me a Story, and The Tin Woodman Gets His Heart.<\/p>\n

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz<\/strong>
\nThrough June 26th<\/p>\n

Follow the Yellow Brick Road to an award-winning interactive experience! Step into the pages of the literary classic written in 1900 by L. Frank Baum and illustrated by W.W. Denslow.<\/p>\n

Visitors learn through play with brain teaser games, role playing, dress-up, and other educational activities incorporated throughout. This exhibit involves 11 sections, or \u201cchapters,\u201d each addressing a different element of the story, such as Dorothy\u2019s House, Tornado, Emerald City, and Glinda\u2019s Castle.<\/p>\n

Exhibit sponsored by Planters Bank. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is produced and toured by Great Explorations Children\u2019s Museum, St. Petersburg, Florida \u00a9 2010. This project was supported in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.<\/p>\n

Anne Bagby: Layered Expressions<\/strong>
\nThrough July 6th<\/p>\n

Bagby\u2019s work combines traditional drawing, painting and printmaking, using several layers to play with the boundaries between design and texture.<\/p>\n

Figuratively Speaking: National Juried Exhibition<\/strong>

Artists from across the nation portray the human figure in various media, including painting, photography, sculpture, and more.<\/p>\n

Serving Abroad: Through Their Eyes<\/strong>
\nThrough September 7th<\/p>\n

[320right]A video installation by Lincoln Schatz sponsored by the US State Department and Art in Embassies. AIE commissioned renowned artist Lincoln Schatz to create a video montage incorporating audio and images selected from photographs of daily life abroad by current and former military and Foreign Service personnel.<\/p>\n

Schatz\u2019s work will later be installed as a site-specific installation for the permanent art collection in the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan.<\/p>\n

Greg Williamson: With the Troops<\/strong>
\nThrough August 31st<\/p>\n

Greg Williamson is a multimedia journalist with The Leaf Chronicle. This exhibit showcases Williamson\u2019s photography during his three weeks embedded with the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, logging many hours of flight time traveling to and from Forward Out Bases.<\/p>\n

Draw Me a Story<\/strong>

[320right]From 2:00pm\u20133:00pm. Alison Davis Lyne, a freelance illustrator, will discuss the art of illustration in the Turner Auditorium. She also paints for the fine art market.<\/p>\n

Ms. Lyne\u2019s presentation is designed for teens and adults. Then join us in the Children\u2019s Room as we make stories come alive with our own illustrations.<\/p>\n

The Tin Woodman Gets His Heart<\/strong>
\nJune 26th, 11:00am\u20133:00pm<\/p>\n

Children are invited to make their own paper Tin Woodman and give him a heart as we learn how the heart works.<\/p>\n

The Museum will be closed Saturday, June 7th and Sunday, June 8th for Flying High, as well as Sunday, June 15th for Father\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n

Finally, get \u201call aboard\u201d to see our fantastic model trains. Our volunteer engineers \u201cride the rails\u201d every Sunday afternoon from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.<\/p>\n

Regular museum hours are 10:00am to 5:00pm Tuesday through Saturday, and 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Sundays. Adult admission is $7.00, Senior Citizens and College ID $5.00, Ages 6 to 18 $3.00, and under six years and Museum members are free.<\/p>\n
