Step into the pages of the literary classic written in 1900 by L. Frank Baum and illustrated by W.W. Denslow.<\/p>\n<p>Designed to engage and challenge guests to step into reading, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz invites visitors into large pop-up book pages that frame each section of this exhibit. Visitors learn through play with brain teaser games, role playing, dress-up, and other educational activities incorporated throughout.<\/p>\n<p>This exhibit involves 11 sections, or \u201cchapters,\u201d each addressing a different element of the story, such as Dorothy\u2019s House, Tornado, Emerald City, and Glinda\u2019s Castle.<\/p>\n<p>Exhibit sponsored by Planters Bank. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is produced and toured by Great Explorations Children\u2019s Museum, St. Petersburg, Florida \u00a9 2010. Paper bags will be provided to make your own cast. This activity is free with paid admission or your museum membership.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Let\u2019s Find: Shoes (\u201cThere\u2019s No Place Like Home\u201d)<\/strong><br \/>\nMay 14th &amp; 15th, 10:30am\u201311:30am<\/p>\n<p>[320right]Preschool age children: put on your favorite pair of shoes and come join us as we look for shoes in the museum, then try on Dorothy\u2019s sparkly silver slippers. We will also read a story and make a craft. This activity is free with paid admission or your museum membership.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Symbolism of Oz<\/strong><br \/>\nMay 15th, 12:10pm<\/p>\n<p>Austin Peay\u2019s Dr. Kevin Tanner will discuss symbolism in the Oz books during this Art &amp; Lunch program.
