{"id":17487,"date":"2014-03-15T14:00:20","date_gmt":"2014-03-15T19:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/?p=17487"},"modified":"2014-03-15T01:38:04","modified_gmt":"2014-03-15T06:38:04","slug":"apsu-alpha-kappa-psi-business-fraternity-wins-fourth-best-chapter-of-the-year-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/2014\/03\/15\/apsu-alpha-kappa-psi-business-fraternity-wins-fourth-best-chapter-of-the-year-award\/","title":{"rendered":"APSU Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity wins fourth Best Chapter of the Year award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-47306\" title=\"Austin Peay State University - APSU\" alt=\"Austin Peay State University - APSU\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/apsu-logo-200x123.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"123\" \/><strong>Clarksville, TN<\/strong> &#8211; Earlier this month, business students at a few major universities were feeling optimistic.<\/p>\n<p>Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity chapters at the University of Alabama, the University of Mississippi, Vanderbilt University and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, were all vying to be named the best chapter in the southern region.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_211594\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/AKP-chapter.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-211594\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-211594\" title=\"APSU Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity\" alt=\"APSU Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/AKP-chapter-480x478.jpg\" width=\"480\" height=\"478\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-211594\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">APSU Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more-->For the last three years, the Austin Peay State University chapter had earned this top distinction, and those optimistic other schools didn\u2019t think the Governors could win a fourth time in a row.<\/p>\n<p>But a sense of d\u00e9j\u00e0 vu pervaded the southern region\u2019s yearly meeting in Atlanta earlier this month when the APSU chapter was again named \u201cChapter of the Year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI told our members to be humble, but for us to win four years in a row was a bit crazy,\u201d Matthew Kilpatrick, chapter advisor, said.<\/p>\n<p>The APSU Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity was founded in 1965, making it one of the older organizations on campus. This year, the club has around 40 members who participate in numerous outreach activities and collegiate business competitions and host lectures for APSU students.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNetworking is one of the big reasons people join,\u201d Kilpatrick said. \u201cWe also help students develop their professional skills. We have successful alumni come back and speak.
