{"id":172,"date":"2009-01-07T17:24:50","date_gmt":"2009-01-07T23:24:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/?p=172"},"modified":"2009-02-05T13:47:47","modified_gmt":"2009-02-05T19:47:47","slug":"taxpayers-can-access-satellite-offices","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/2009\/01\/07\/taxpayers-can-access-satellite-offices\/","title":{"rendered":"Taxpayers can access satellite offices"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #333399;\"><em><strong>Brenda Radford, Montgomery County Trustee, has announced\u00a0 SmartTrips and the following information on tax relief\/tax freeze.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-173 alignright\" title=\"trustee-brenda-radford\" src=\"http:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/01\/trustee-brenda-radford.jpg\" alt=\"trustee-brenda-radford\" width=\"179\" height=\"165\" \/>The Montgomery County Trustee\u2019s Office is coming to a Volunteer Fire Department near you.\u00a0 With ever-rising fuel and grocery prices, everyone is looking for a little help.\u00a0 On the following days the locations listed below will serve as an optional, satellite Trustee\u2019s Office and offer county residents the convenience of paying their County Property taxes or to apply for any of the (5) Tax Relief\/Tax Freeze Programs in their respective areas of Montgomery County:<!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Friday, Jan. 9, 2009\u00a0 East Montgomery\u00a0Station, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>Friday, Jan. 16, 2009\u00a0 St. Bethlehem\u00a0 Station,\u00a0 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>Friday, Jan. 23, 2009\u00a0 Cunningham Station, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>Friday, Jan. 30, 2009\u00a0 Woodlawn Station, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>Friday,\u00a0 Feb.\u00a0 6, 2009\u00a0 for Palmyra residents, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>The Agricultural Extension Service at Cumberland Heights.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Tax Relief\/Tax Freeze Details<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>For the first time applicant, the 2008 county property tax must be paid in full to make application.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> The deadline to apply for 2008 county tax relief is April 6, 2009.<\/li>\n<li>Must own and use home as your primary residence.<\/li>\n<li>Special considerations and rules apply to the following: to mobile homes set on rental property; for qualified taxpayers temporarily living in health care facilities; for mixed use property, such as residential\/commercial splits; and, for Holders of Life Estate on the property.\u00a0\u00a0 For applicants living in a mobile home, must provide copy of title or bill of sale.<\/li>\n<li>For the , all property owners must provide documentation of annual income from all sources including, but not limited to:<\/li>\n<li>Social Security (after Medicare is deducted)<\/li>\n<li>Supplemental Security Income (SSI)<\/li>\n<li>Retirement or Pension benefits (after deduction of health benefits, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Veteran\u2019s Administration benefits<\/li>\n<li>Worker\u2019s Compensation<\/li>\n<li>Salaries or Wages<\/li>\n<li>Interest or Dividends<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><em><strong>What To Bring<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>For Elderly, Disabled and\/or Tax Freeze-Must provide proof of age, ownership and residency.\u00a0 Examples are the following:\u00a0 Social Security Card, Medicare Card, Voter Registration Card or Driver\u2019s License.\u00a0 Must provide proof of 2007 taxable and nontaxable income of all owners of property.<\/li>\n<li>For Disabled Veterans-Must provide proof of age, ownership and residency.\u00a0 Examples are the following:\u00a0 (Military I.D. preferred) Social Security Card, Medicare Card, Voter Registration Card or Driver\u2019s License.<\/li>\n<li>For Disabled Veteran Widow (er) Must provide proof of age, ownership and residency.\u00a0 Examples are the following:\u00a0 (Military I.D. preferred) Social Security Card, Medicare Card, Voter Registration Card or Driver\u2019s License.\u00a0 Must provide copy of spouse\u2019s death certificate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Additional Information <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Elderly Homeowner-Must be 65 or older and provide proof of age.\u00a0 Annual income of all property owners cannot exceed $24,790.\u00a0 Up to $315.00 County Tax Relief available.<\/li>\n<li>Disabled Homeowner-No age limit, but proof of age must be provided.\u00a0 Must be \u201ctotally and permanently disabled\u201d as defined by the Social Security Administration.\u00a0 Annual income cannot exceed $24,790.\u00a0 Must own home and use as primary residence.\u00a0 Up to $315.00 of County Tax Relief is available.<\/li>\n<li>Disabled Veteran Homeowner-No age or income limitations.\u00a0 Must provide identification (Military I.D. card preferred) of applicant and spouse (if applicable) and complete and additional V.A. Form (F-16)\u00a0 Most Disabled Veteran applicants qualify by having a \u201ctotal and permanent disability rating from a service-connected disability\u201d by the Veterans Administration. Up to $1,364.00 of County Tax Relief is available.\u00a0 Please refer to the attached brochure for other qualifying disability categories.<\/li>\n<li>Disabled Veteran Widow (er) Homeowner-No age or income limitations.\u00a0 Available to surviving spouse of a disabled veteran.\u00a0 Must have been married to the veteran at the time of death and must not have remarried to be eligible.\u00a0 Must provide identification (military I.D. card preferred) and complete an additional\u00a0 V.A. Form (F-16S).\u00a0 Up to $1,364.00 of County Tax Relief available.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Clarksville-Montgomery County Tax Freeze allows property taxes to be \u201cfrozen\u201d at current rate.
