\"APSUClarksville, TN<\/strong> – This December, why not enjoy a night of holiday music with a couple hundred of your closest friends?<\/p>\n

That\u2019s what will happen at 7:30pm on Friday, December 6th, when the Austin Peay State University Department of Music hosts \u201cChristmas with David Steinquest and Friends: A Winter Wonderland\u201d in the Mabry Concert Hall.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe stage will have a rug, couches and chairs and lamps and a Christmas tree, so everyone feels like they\u2019re in someone\u2019s living room and there\u2019s this party going on, and then there starts to be music at the party,\u201d Steinquest, APSU professor of music, said. \u201cIt will be very casual.\u201d<\/p>\n

The concert will feature a band made up of Steinquest\u2019s favorite musicians \u2013 guitarist Paul Binkley, bass player Tony Nagy, drummer Matt DeVore and vocalists Allison Campbell and David Alford. Binkley formerly played with the country music group Alabama, and Alford can be seen every week on ABC\u2019s \u201cNashville\u201d as the character Bucky Dawes. Vocalist Erin Binkley will join the group this year, bringing a little theatrical fun to the evening.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe is going to do \u2018A Christmas Pageant,\u2019 a one-woman show that\u2019s a little story she tells,\u201d Steinquest said. \u201cIt is so funny. She\u2019s perfect for it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The evening\u2019s holiday program will have a sort of pop\/jazzy sound, featuring works by some of Steinquest\u2019s favorite artists, including James Taylor\u2019s arrangement of \u201cWinter Wonderland\u201d and Family Force 5\u2019s arrangement of \u201cDo you Hear What I Hear.\u201d<\/p>\n

The concert also will feature holiday works by new artists, such as \u201cTracks in the Snow,\u201d by The Civil Wars.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is the most beautiful tune,\u201d Steinquest said. \u201cPeople are going to cry.\u201d<\/p>\n

And it wouldn\u2019t be a Steinquest concert without some strange, percussion elements.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are boom whackers on this Christmas concert,\u201d he said. \u201cThat\u2019s all I\u2019m going to say about it. But it\u2019s going to be really, really fun, and you\u2019re going to dig it.\u201d<\/p>\n
