\"AustinClarksville, TN<\/strong> – Every year, thousands of people stop by Austin Peay State University to attend athletic events, lectures and performances, and the atmosphere is usually relaxed, with visitors dressed casually as they stroll through campus.<\/p>\n

But at 7:00pm on December 7th, the community is invited to come out and enjoy a more formal evening with the APSU choral program\u2019s fourth annual Holiday Dinner.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf all the events on campus, this is the one that brings people together in formal attire for a sit-down dinner, lit by candlelight, with music provided by APSU students,\u201d Dr. Korre Foster, director of choral activities at APSU, said. \u201cIt is a wonderful opportunity for us to change the Morgan University Center Ballroom into a holiday atmosphere, with both the sites and sounds of the season.\u201d<\/p>\n

While attendees enjoy coffee, spiced cider and an upscale meal, APSU choral members, accompanied by the APSU Jazz Collegians, will serenade them with a diverse array of holiday songs.<\/p>\n

\u201cA small theme of this year\u2019s Holiday Dinner is the music of the 1950s,\u201d Foster said. \u201cThey\u2019re going to hear \u2018Rudolph,\u2019 \u2018Santa Baby\u201d and \u2018I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

The evening\u2019s musical program will also feature holiday standards, such as \u201cWhite Christmas,\u201d two Spanish-language choral pieces, accompanied by both a guitar and a harp, and works in Hebrew, Latin and other languages.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the annual crowd pleasers is the African-inspired choral selection,\u201d Foster said \u201cFor this year, we\u2019re doing a Nigerian folk song.\u201d<\/p>\n

The evening will end on a soft, subdued note when Dr. Eli Lara, APSU assistant professor of cello, joins the choir for a special performance.<\/p>\n

Tickets for the dinner are $55.00, but only 300 spots are available.<\/p>\n
