{"id":16679,"date":"2013-11-08T10:00:31","date_gmt":"2013-11-08T16:00:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/?p=16679"},"modified":"2013-11-08T03:33:52","modified_gmt":"2013-11-08T09:33:52","slug":"apsu-hosts-19th-annual-bread-and-words-reading-on-november-26th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/2013\/11\/08\/apsu-hosts-19th-annual-bread-and-words-reading-on-november-26th\/","title":{"rendered":"APSU hosts 19th Annual Bread and Words reading on November 26th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-47306\" title=\"Austin Peay State University - APSU\" alt=\"Austin Peay State University - APSU\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/apsu-logo-200x123.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"123\" \/><strong>Clarksville, TN<\/strong> &#8211; Every November, on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, the Austin Peay State University Department of Languages and Literature hosts a benefit reading that not only celebrates the written word, but also raises public awareness of hunger in the local community.<\/p>\n<p>This year, the tradition continues with the 19th Annual Bread and Words reading on November 26th in the APSU Morgan University Center Ballroom.<!--more-->The evening begins with a simple meal of soup and bread at 6:00pm, followed by a 7:00pm reading of poetry and fiction by local writers. A donation of $5.00 is requested at the door. The money will go to one of the agencies in Clarksville that provide food for individuals in need.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe always enjoy sponsoring this event, and I hope many of you will want to be part of it again this year,\u201d Barry Kitterman, APSU professor of creative writing, said. \u201cLast year, we were able to make a substantial donation to the Salvation Army. But of course, if someone would like to come be with us at the dinner and reading, we don\u2019t want money to be an obstacle.
