Specifically, they didn\u2019t know what they\u2019d do for a job once they graduated with a music degree.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStudents started coming to me more and more frequently and saying, \u2018I don\u2019t foresee myself as a music teacher, but I don\u2019t think I\u2019m strong enough to become a performer, so I\u2019m at a loss,\u2019\u201d Branscome recalled. \u201cThat question revealed they\u2019re completely unaware of what else is out there in terms of music careers. It\u2019s not just limited to education and performance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Branscome-Music-Career-Advising.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-193435\" title=\"Music Career Advising: A Guide for Students, Parents and Teachers\" alt=\"Music Career Advising: A Guide for Students, Parents and Teachers\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/Branscome-Music-Career-Advising-480x280.jpg\" width=\"480\" height=\"280\" \/><\/a><!--more-->The question interested Branscome, so he spent the next three years interviewing professional musicians across the country in various fields to find out what kind of jobs were available. His findings are now available in his informative new book, \u201cMusic Career Advising: A Guide for Students, Parents and Teachers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery high school student considering a career in music should read this book,\u201d Elisa Seeherman, director of career services at The University of the Arts, said. \u201cIt will provide them with valuable knowledge about themselves, the variety of music degrees and careers paths and their fit in the field.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The book includes chapters on the different types of music degree programs offered at colleges and universities, and what types of career fields are available to graduates with those degrees.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor parents and teachers, they want to know when and if the student will be employable,\u201d Branscome said. \u201cThis book tries to answer a lot of the different questions they ask.
