\"GoClarksville, TN<\/strong> \u2013 Every day, law enforcement across the United States step out onto the streets in an effort to protect and serve. Their dedication extends across the communities they patrol and within their own community of officers.<\/p>\n

This year, on October 19th, one of Montgomery County\u2019s own will run in the Go Commando Half Marathon & 5k powered by CDE Lightband in honor of his fellow officers and to raise awareness about a very real threat to police officers everywhere.<\/p>\n

Montgomery County Sheriff Investigator Jeff Morlock will run in Go Commando to raise Awareness to Gun Violence.<\/p><\/div>\n

Investigator Jeff Morlock, with the Montgomery County Sheriff\u2019s Office, has been running for years, just recently bringing a new sense of purpose to his exercise regimen. Morlock will run the Go Commando 5k wearing his bulletproof vest, part of a nation-wide campaign known as Project Active Armor.<\/p>\n

Project Active Armor is a collection of law enforcement from across America joined together in a collaborative effort to reinforce the idea that there\u2019s no reason not to wear body armor. These law enforcement professionals compete in running, cycling, and multi-sport events, all to raise awareness about Project Active Armor and encourage their fellow officers to always wear their bulletproof vest.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe [Law enforcement] can\u2019t help each other or the community if we can\u2019t help ourselves,\u201d states Morlock. \u201cIf we can run 5ks or participate in endurance events in a vest then there\u2019s no excuse.\u201d This will be Morlock\u2019s first 5k wearing the vest, but he is looking forward to the challenge and planning to continue racing with the vest in the future.<\/p>\n

Weekly group runs at The Runners Hub, and with the Clarksville Running Club have helped prepare Morlock for race day. Morlock has been in law enforcement for over ten years, and is a third generation law enforcement officer. After completing the Michelob Ultra Go Commando 5k, he will participate in the annual St. Jude\u2019s run in Memphis, TN.<\/p>\n

About Go Commando<\/h3>\n

The third annual Go Commando Half Marathon, 5k, and Fun Run is October 18th-19th, 2013. With an expected participation of 2,000, this will be the largest event to date. The Half Marathon presented by CDE Lightband begins at 7:30am, the Michelob Ultra 5k begins at 8:00am, and the Fun Run presented by Premier Medical Group begins at 11:00am. All proceeds from the event support local community programs including the Clarksville Area YMCA, Wings of Liberty, Clarksville Association for Down Syndrome, and the Green Beret Foundation.<\/p>\n
