He translated from Icelandic a short story by \u00d3skar Magn\u00fasson, \u201cDr. Amplatz,\u201d which will be published in Best European Fiction 2014 by Dalkey Archive Press.<!--more-->He also translated from Icelandic a short story by Krist\u00edn Eir\u00edksd\u00f3ttir, \u201cDoris Dies,\u201d to be published in an upcoming issue of Hayden\u2019s Ferry Review.<\/p>\n<p>On June 21st, he was a visiting poet-translator craft talk, \u201cThe Relative Versus the Absolute in Translation,\u201d at Drew University\u2019s low-residency M.F.A. program in poetry and translation.<\/p>\n<p>While there, he also gave a poetry reading with Roger Sederat and participated in a translation panel discussion, \u201cGod is in the Details,\u201d with Ellen Dor\u00e9 Watson and Roger Sederat.<\/p>\n<h3>Dr. Linda Kay Davis<\/h3>\n<p>Dr. Linda Kay Davis, associate professor in the APSU Department of Languages and Literature, presented with Rebecca Grove of the University of Maryland as part of a one-hour panel presentation during the 2013 Conference on English Education (CEE) on July 11th at Colorado State University at Fort Collins, CO.<\/p>\n<p>Their topic was \u201cLessons Learned: Exploring Intern&#8217;s Performance and Rethinking Program Design Through Analysis of edTPAs and Lesson Plans.\u201d Davis focused on &#8220;What Does the edTPA Reveal about E\/LA Candidates&#8217; or Programs&#8217; Competencies?&#8221; while Grove focused on &#8220;What is (or is not) in a Plan? An Examination of the Lesson Plans of Preservice English Teachers for Teaching and for the edTPA.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The CEE membership is composed of primarily higher education personnel who train English educators and graduate students seeking degrees in English education. CEE meets biannually and is an affiliate of the National Council of Teachers of English.<\/p>\n<h3>Leadership Clarksville<\/h3>\n<p>Ihab Habib, assistant professor and program manager of APSU\u2019s construction degree program; Alaric Klinghard, coordinator of sports marketing and promotions; and Greg Singleton, associate vice president for student affairs and dean of students were named members of the Leadership Clarksville Class of 2014.<\/p>\n<h3>Gregory R. Singleton<\/h3>\n<p>Gregory R. Singleton, associate vice president and dean of students, recently presented two programs as part of the Kappa Alpha Order National Convention in San Antonio, Texas. His presentation, titled &#8220;Adjust-Advocate-Advise,&#8221; was presented during Leadership KA and was targeted for volunteer advisers of collegiate chapters across the country on effective ways to work with undergraduate members.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, he presented workshops detailing the academic progress of the national fraternity. Singleton currently serves as the national scholarship officer for Kappa Alpha Order, a position he has held since 2007, and was recently reappointed to serve another two-year term.
