As diverse as stars in the heavens, archetypes are derived from personal behavioral patterns. ”

“Each of us incarnate with a selected group of these patterns that remain with us throughout our lives. Exploring my own archetypes has made me aware that they are not simple and passive parts of our psyches,” stated Shaw. ” They take active roles as guardians and inner allies, awakening us when we are in danger of personal destruction. Each has its own light and shadow attributes that have the potential to teach us things about ourselves, both constructive and deconstructive.”

Diane is the Assistant Professor of Visual Art and Theatre Arts at the University of Tennessee, in Martin, Tennessee. She received her MFA in painting and modern and contemporary art history from the University of Memphis. Diane works mostly in acrylics in an abstract and expressive style, and has exhibited her work throughout the South. She also conducts creative workshops and lectures on visual art. Archetypes will be on exhibit through June 25th.

Other gallery spaces feature Mike Andrews: Carvings, Castings, and Constructions and The A-Mazing Maze.
