The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is celebrating with two events that can get children out of the house and having a ball.<\/p>\n<p>The Spring Family Campout will be held Saturday, May 18th at Billy Dunlop Park, located at 1930 East Boy Scout Road. Families can camp overnight at the park for only $20.00 per family, up to six members, or $5.00 per individual. Dinner and breakfast will be provided and pre-registration is required at recpro.cityofclarksville.com.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, boys and girls ages 9 to 14 may participate in the local Hershey Track &amp; Field competition, to be held at the Rossview High School Track at 9:00am. Kids may compete in various track and field events and will be given the opportunity to advance to higher levels of competition, leading up to the national competition in Hershey, PA! This event is free to participate.<\/p>\n<h3>Clarksville Downtown Market to Open May 18th<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-118326\" title=\"Clarksville Downtown Market\" alt=\"Clarksville Downtown Market\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Clarksville-Downtown-Market.gif\" width=\"122\" height=\"160\" \/>The 2013 Clarksville Downtown Market opens Saturday, May 18th, with 70 vendors offering local fresh produce, baked goods, local honey, milk, d\u00e9cor, seasonal flowers and more. The Clarksville Downtown Market will be open Saturdays from 8:00am to 1:00pm through October 19th on Public Square.<\/p>\n<p>Opening Day of the Market will feature musical performances by Eric Compton &amp; Brio, cooking demonstrations by Kristina Waters, Arts and Crafts for Kids by Cynthia Bellar and Chalk, Paper, Scissors, Market bags to the first 500 in attendance and prizes!<\/p>\n<h3>Summer Pool Passes<\/h3>\n<p>Did you know that pool passes are on sale year round? A printable registration form is available at <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/RecPro.CityofClarksville.com\" >http:\/\/RecPro.CityofClarksville.com<\/a> under the \u201cLinks\u201d section.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Civil War Summer Camp<\/h3>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Fort-Defiance-Civil-War-Park.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-104620\" title=\"Fort Defiance Civil War Park &amp; Interpretive Center\" alt=\"Fort Defiance Civil War Park &amp; Interpretive Center\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Fort-Defiance-Civil-War-Park-200x133.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"133\" \/><\/a>The Fort Defiance Interpretive Center, located at 120 Duncan Street, will host the City\u2019s first Civil War Summer Camp for 5th and 6th graders. Students will learn about the people, events, vocabulary, songs, food, drills, clothing and flags associated with the War.<\/p>\n<p>Civil War Summer Camp will be June 17th through 21st from 8:00am until noon at the Fort Defiance Interpretive Center. Cost to participate is $50.00 per student.
