\"TennesseeClarksville, TN<\/strong> – The Student Job Fair hosted by Tennessee State Representative Joe Pitts was a huge success. Over 400 students attended the Job Fair, Thursday, May 2nd and were successful in applying for summer jobs as well as discussing their future education plans with four institutions of higher learning.<\/p>\n

\u201cGreat thanks to all the employers that attended as well as APSU, Nashville State Community College (Clarksville Campus), Tennessee Technology Center (Clarksville Campus) and Daymar Institute,\u201d said State Representative Joe Pitts (D-Clarksville). \u201cThis event would not have been successful without the hard work of Melinda Williams and Wayne Simpson of the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.\u201d<\/p>\n

Student Job Fair at New Providence Community Policing Center<\/p><\/div>\n

More than a dozen employers were on site to accept applications from students, ages 16 and up, for open positions. The annual event was hosted by the New Providence Community Policing Center on Providence Boulevard.<\/p>\n

\u201cLisa Baggett with Goodwill Career Solutions was a tremendous help providing not only the location but logistical help before and during the event,\u201d Pitts said. \u201cThe members of Christ The Healer Church, under the leadership of Bishop Calvin Lockett, provided a smorgasbord of refreshments for the students and volunteers.\u201d<\/p>\n

There were other organizations present including Books and Bricks, a newly minted non-profit organization led by Jimmy Terry, Jr. to screen students to participate in their new work, study and get paid program.<\/p>\n

\u201cBrandy Lassiter, our legislative intern from Austin Peay, worked tirelessly for several months coordinating this event and I want to give her a special thank you for the flawless execution of the event,\u201d said Pitts. \u201cBrandy has served the citizens of District 67 well during her tenure this academic semester, and I know she has a bright future.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
