The event will feature historian George McGlothin, who will be assuming the persona of Clay Faulkner.<\/p>\n<p>It will take place in the Museum&#8217;s Turner Auditorium at 6:00pm. Admission is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_91084\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/customshousemuseum.gif\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-91084\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-91084\" title=\"Customs House Museum and Cultural Center\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/customshousemuseum-480x282.gif\" alt=\"Customs House Museum and Cultural Center\" width=\"480\" height=\"282\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-91084\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Customs House Museum and Cultural Center<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more-->George McGlothin has been called \u201ca walking encyclopedia in a tux.\u201d He\u2019s been bringing history to life for two decades as restorer and proprietor of Falcon Rest Mansion &amp; Gardens in McMinnville, Tennessee, and as the writer and star of the history-based shows offered at Falcon Rest for tour groups.<\/p>\n<p>Falcon Rest\u2019s original owner was manufacturer Clay Faulkner, who in 1896 promised his wife \u201cthe grandest mansion in Tennessee\u201d if she\u2019d move near his \u201cGorilla Pants\u201d factory outside of town.<\/p>\n<p>In preparing for a Civil War show, McGlothin embarked on an intensive study of the causes and events of the conflict, both on a national and local scale. It turns out that young Clay Faulkner could be called \u201cthe secret soldier of the Civil War.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In his upcoming speech, McGlothin will assume Clay\u2019s persona in 1910 as he looks back on how the state of the war in 1863 influenced his decisions as an 18-year-old enlistee. McGlothin&#8217;s performance is based on actual 1863 events in McMinnville.<\/p>\n<h3>About the Customs House Museum<\/h3>\n<p>Located in the heart of historic downtown Clarksville, Tennessee, the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center is the State\u2019s second largest general museum.
