Come explore an entire city block featuring large gallery spaces filled with fine art, science and history.<\/p>\n<p>In the month of May, the Museum will feature 2012 National Juried Exhibition, Outdoors In: The Paintings of Lori Putnam, The Unfortunate Fate: Titanic 1912, Civil War Medicine, Celebrating 1898: Artifacts &amp; History, \u201cLet\u2019s Find Clocks\u201d and so much more.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>Exhibits<\/h3>\n<h4>2012 National Juried Exhibition<\/h4>\n<p>See artwork from all across the nation in this juried exhibition. 46 pieces have been selected in multiple mediums. Exhibit opens May 13th.<\/p>\n<h4>A Painterly Palette: The Art of Mary Addison Hackett<\/h4>\n<p>Mary Addison Hackett received her BFA from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and her MFA from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1995 before moving to Los Angeles in 2000. She has exhibited at Torrance Art Museum (Torrance, CA), Kristi Engle Gallery (Los Angeles, CA) and Irvine Fine Arts Center (Irvine, CA) among others. Her paintings are on exhibit through July 4th.<\/p>\n<h4>Outdoors In: The Paintings of Lori Putnam<\/h4>\n<p>A native of Nashville, Tennessee, Lori Putnam travels all over the world, painting small to medium-sized plein air sketches and finished works. She also creates large-scale paintings in her studio located in Franklin, Tennessee.<\/p>\n<p>Her work is in the permanent collection at The Academy Art Museum in Easton, Maryland, the Jack Warner Collection, the collection of Plein Air Magazine, and in private and corporate collections, and galleries worldwide. Exhibit opens May 23rd.<\/p>\n<h4>Quantum Confusion: An Installation by Denise Stewart Sanabria<\/h4>\n<p>Artist Denise Stewart Sanabria explores the idea of portals with eleven full scale charcoal portraits on cut-out plywood. On exhibit through May 20th.<\/p>\n<h4>The Unfortunate Fate: Titanic 1912<\/h4>\n<p>Commemorates the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. In the Bruner Gallery through May 20th.<\/p>\n<h4>Recent Acquisitions: Highlighting Items from the Collection<\/h4>\n<p>Included is Dollhouse: A Series by Eric Hansen. The first run of photographs on aluminum have been donated to the museum by the award-winning photographer.<\/p>\n<h4>Civil War Remedies<\/h4>\n<p>This exhibit focuses on items, techniques &amp; situations created to address medical needs in the mid \u2013 late 1800\u2019s. Now on exhibit.<\/p>\n<h4>Celebrating 1898: Artifacts &amp; History<\/h4>\n<p>Information and artifacts from the collection from the timeframe that the 1898 building was built are on display in celebration of its reopening.<\/p>\n<h3>Activities<\/h3>\n<h4>\u201cLet\u2019s Find Clocks\u201d<\/h4>\n<p><strong>May 16th &amp; 17th, 10:30am\u201311:30am<\/strong><br \/>\nChildren 3 \u2013 5 years old and their grown-ups are invited to explore the museum from a child\u2019s perspective. This month we will be looking for clocks. Children are invited to bring a clock or watch to show the other boys and girls. We will also read a story and make a craft.<\/p>\n<p>This activity is free to museum members. Non-members pay the regular adult admission of $7.00, plus $2.00 per child. Siblings are always welcome. For more information, contact Sue Lewis at 931.648.5780.<\/p>\n<h4>Art &amp; Lunch Film: Pissarro<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Thursday, May 17th, 12:05pm in the Turner Auditorium.<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Free admission; bagged lunches welcome.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This is the story of the life and work of Camille Pissarro, the West-Indian born leader of the original Impressionists and the only artist from that school to exhibit at all eight of the exhibitions from 1874 to 1886. Pissarro\u02b9s great works include the famous Boulevard Montmarte, which hangs today in the National Gallery, London.<\/p>\n<p>The museum will be closed Sunday, May 13th for Mother&#8217;s Day and Monday, May 28th for Memorial Day.<\/p>\n<h3>About the Customs House Museum<\/h3>\n<p>Located in the heart of historic downtown Clarksville, Tennessee, the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center is the State\u2019s second largest general museum.
