Kendall Welsh from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artifactsemporium.com\/\"  target=\"_blank\">ARTifacts<\/a>sent us this information about April&#8217;s artistic extravaganza.<\/p>\n<p>Participating merchants include APSU&#8217;s Downtown Art Gallery, ARTifacts Emporium, Creative Corner, Downtown Artists Co-op, the Framemaker, Edwards Steakhouse, Hodgepodge, Ingredients, Rogate&#8217;s Boutique, and the Roxy Regional Theatre.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Participating artists include Lee Bergman, Tonya Coleman, Vicki Davenport, James Diehr, Mary Gail Russ, Lynne Waters Griffey, Maureen Griffin, Debra Harrison, Corey Heard, Judith Jackson Frank Lott, Claire Meriweather, Monica O&#8217;Neill, Emily Parsons, Kelly Peters, Beth Ryan, Kimberly Santiago, Grant Schryver, David Smith, Chad Span, Rachel Wainwright, Kimberly White, Rita Woodward, and more.<\/p>\n<h3>APSU Downtown Gallery<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-27776\" title=\"Austin Peay Downtown Art Gallery \" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/APSUgallery_logo-178x200.jpg\" alt=\"Austin Peay Downtown Art Gallery\" width=\"107\" height=\"120\" \/>APSU Downtown Gallery (116 Strawberry Alley) is hosting the Open Exhibition, sponsored by US Bank and the APSU Department of Art. The Open Exhibition is open to Montgomery County and surrounding area residents 18 years and older. 20% of all entry fees will be donated to the APSU\/US Bank Scholarship fund. Winners will be awarded in both amateur and professional categories. An opening reception will be held April 5th from 5:00pm-8:00pm as part of First Thursday.<\/p>\n<h3>ARTifacts Emporium<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/?attachment_id=13388\"  rel=\"attachment wp-att-13388\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-13388\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/12\/artifacts-200x100.jpg\" alt=\"ARTifacts, Art &amp; Antique Emporium\" width=\"200\" height=\"100\" \/><\/a> ARTifacts Emporium (124 Strawberry Alley) will feature the artistic creations of Rachel Wainwright and Kelly Peters.<\/p>\n<p>Rachel Wainwright, jewelry designer, says this in her artist statement: I love to break plates! I especially like to break your plates, you know, those in the cupboard from Great Grandma that don&#8217;t match anything in your house? I like to turn those dust collectors into something precious to wear close to your heart.<\/p>\n<p>Kelly Peters, a local potter, has been with ARTifacts for over a year now, sharing her ceramic creations, ranging from hand thrown pieces, to ceramics. She also has several knitted items that she made and tools to make knitting more fun with her unique style<\/p>\n<p>ARTifacts Studio Space, 3rd floor 124 Strawberry Alley, will open \u201cCelebrate Us\u201d, a show of 9 CMCSS art teachers. Artists include: Emily Parsons, Vicki Davenport, Monica O\u2019Neill, Lee Bergman, Debra Harrison, Rita Woodward, Mary Gail Russ, Corey Heard and Maureen Griffin<\/p>\n<h3>Downtown Artist Co-Op<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/?attachment_id=74597\"  rel=\"attachment wp-att-74597\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-74597\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/DACLOGO.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"75\" height=\"90\" \/><\/a> Downtown Artist Co-op (96 Franklin Street) will be hosting an exhibit by James Diehr from April 5th &#8211; 25th. The show is titled Memories Unwound and is a retrospective show of sculpture, painting and poetry. The show will open at 5:30 with a reception hosted by the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative arts. This will be in conjunction with the downtown area First Thursday Artwalk.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time North East Middle School will be exhibiting the work of several of their award winning art students in the front window of DAC. The NEMS exhibit is coordinated by art teacher Theresa Kindrick.<\/p>\n<h3>Edwards Steakhouse<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/?attachment_id=39241\"  rel=\"attachment wp-att-39241\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-39241\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/edwards-200x200.png\" alt=\"Edward's Steakhouse\" width=\"120\" height=\"120\" \/><\/a> Edwards Steakhouse (107 Franklin Street) will feature Jason Montgomery at the piano for your entertainment during the March Art Walk. Also, featured throughout the restaurant are paintings by Lynne Waters Griffey, Frank Lott and photographs by David Smith and Grant Schryver.<\/p>\n<h3>The Framemaker<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/?attachment_id=29013\"  rel=\"attachment wp-att-29013\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-29013\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/framemakerLogo-200x36.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"36\" \/><\/a> The Framemaker (705 North Second Street) proudly presents paintings by Judith Jackson as part of Clarksville&#8217;s First Thursday Art Walk on Thursday, April 5th, 2012. An opening reception will be held from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. The exhibit, titled &#8220;Flower Power,&#8221; will remain on display at the Framemaker throughout the month of April during normal business hours (Monday through Friday 10:00am &#8211; 5:00pm).<\/p>\n<p>Judith Jackson is a &#8220;plein air&#8221; painter who draws inspiration from nature&#8217;s light and atmosphere. Three of her paintings are included in the collection of The Tennessee State Museum. She is a member of The Chestnut Group, The Nashville Artist Guild, Women Painters of the Southeast, Tennessee Art League, Monthaven Art Society and The Simpson County Guild of Artists and Craftsmen. According to the artist, &#8220;I create art to promote beauty and joy from my interpretation of life.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3>Hodgepodge<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/?attachment_id=62335\"  rel=\"attachment wp-att-62335\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-62335\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/HODGEPODGE-logo-200x110.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"120\" height=\"66\" \/><\/a> Hodgepodge (125 Franklin Street) will host Beth Ryan who moved to Clarksville about five years ago. Beth studied at the Ohio State University and graduated with a degree in drawing\/painting\/printmaking. Having put her art on hold while raising her kids, then pursuing a career, Beth is enjoying the opportunity to get back to painting. Beth is also an accomplished flute player. She is a member of the Cumberland Winds Band, the Cumberland Winds Woodwind Quintet, Flutissimo, a flute quartet, part of a flute, harp duet with Ted Jones, and gives lessons at the First Baptist Academy.<\/p>\n<h4>Creative Corner<\/h4>\n<p>Also at Hodgepodge, in Creative Corner, join mixed media artist, Kimberly Santiago as she introducing new artist kits to help induce your creative side to emerge out of winter hypernation. From the abstract to the documentary, I try to create compelling images using whatever means meets the challenge: digital, film, or alternative processes, even though film is my absolute passion.\u201d Tonya\u2019s photos range from abstract to landscape to still life and everything in between.<\/p>\n<p>Baker, Kimberly White is a military wife and a mother of 3 boys. Originally from New York she currently lives in Fort Campbell, KY. Kimberly is a full-time student and in her free time loves to bake for her family and friends. A Native of Clarksville and graduate of Austin Peay State University; Claire graduated in 2009 with a degree in Fine Art with an emphasis in Studio Art: painting. Claire works mainly in oil and watercolor paints, but also enjoys experimenting with mixed media and pastel work as well.
