BlueCross BlueShield of TennesseeWoodlawn, TN – Representatives of the Montgomery County Government and the BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Foundation recently gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of the BlueCross Healthy Place at Woodlawn Park.

The Montgomery County Government applied for the BlueCross Healthy Place grant, sharing the positive impact a revitalized community space would have on the area.

First-year APSU students give back through Freshman Service Project

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) 2019 freshmen class members began their academic careers on an altruistic note by participating in the Freshman Service Project, an annual event that allows freshman to bond while introducing them to nonprofit organization’s in the community on August 24th, 2019.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation, TWRA provides outdoor fun with Youth Fishing Rodeo

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRAClarksville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency partnered once again with Clarksville Parks & Recreation to host its annual Youth Fishing Rodeo at Liberty Park.

TWRA’s Nate Thompson talked about the event and why it’s important to his agency and the community it serves.

“TWRA has been doing this for at least 15 years, that’s longer than I’ve been here,” Thompson said. “This year we have at least 200 kids signed up. Today’s rodeo just gives them that fishing experience, and for many of them, it’s their first time.”

Austin Peay State University announces APSU Bass Tournament set for May 13th

APSU Governors Bass TournamentClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University has announced that the 24th annual APSU Governors Bass Tournament will be held Saturday, May 13th, 2017 at Kentucky Lake, with registration and boat launching from Paris Landing (Tennessee) State Park. Last season’s tourney drew nearly 200 boats.

More than $12,000 dollars in prize money will be awarded. Previously, the Top 25 places earned cash prizes but now only the Top 10 places will gain monetary awards, meaning greater cash payouts, respectively, for those positions.

Fresh tomatoes–both red and green– plus black-eyed peas, turnip greens, green beans, pepper–both sweet and hot–and all kinds of other vegetables and fruits abound.

In addition, you can find canned jellies, jams, relishes, sauerkraut, and vegetables and crocheted items. Open 7:00am to 1:00pm, the official name is the L&N Montgomery County Farmers’ Market.

Clarksville’s Frank and Connie Fisher win 22nd Annual APSU Governors Bass Tournament

APSU Governors Bass TournamentBuchanan, TN – On Saturday, May 14th, the 22nd annual Austin Peay State University Governors Bass Tournament was held on Kentucky Lake. Boats launched from Paris Landing State Park at 6:00am. There were 187 boats competing for $12,000 in prize money.

Although the forecast was for a clear, sunny day, the start of the tournament was anything but. Clouds rolled in, the wind kicked up making for a cold morning with a lot of chop on the water. As the day went on, the clouds departed and the sunny weather promised presented itself.
