Fort Defiance to hold “Music at the Fort”, June 27th

Clarksville, TN – Grab a blanket and pack a picnic lunch for Music at the Fort, an outdoor musical event Saturday, June 27th, 2020 at Fort Defiance Civil War Park.
“This will be our first event since the pandemic, so we’re certainly glad to be back,” said William Parker, Historical Interpreter at Fort Defiance. “It’ll be a great opportunity for patrons to see the park and hear some music from the past.”
Guests will enjoy a string band playing music of the 19th century.

Clarksville, TN – The next meeting of the Clarksville (TN) Civil War Roundtable will be on Wednesday, May 16th, 2018 at the Bone & Joint Center, 980 Professional Park Drive, right across the street from Tennova Healthcare. This is just off Dunlop Lane and Holiday Drive and only a few minutes east of Governor’s Square mall.
The meeting begins at 7:00pm and is always open to the public. Members please bring a friend or two – new recruits are always welcomed.
Fort Defiance Civil War Park and Interpretive Center holds Indian Artifact Show

Clarksville, TN – Fort Defiance Civil War Park and Interpretive Center hosted an event this weekend that focused on Native American artifacts, bringing in experts on the subject, and inviting locals to come in with their own items, and questions on the subject.
William Parker is the Historical Interpreter at Fort Defiance. “We are known as a Civil War site, but we tend to forget the war only lasted four years,” Parker said. “So we’re tapping into the history of this site way before the war, when this hill was inhabited by Native Americans for thousands of years.
Christmas in Occupied Clarksville was held Saturday at Fort Defiance Civil War Park

Clarksville, TN – Fort Defiance Civil War Park and Interpretive Center hosted its 6th annual Christmas in Occupied Clarksville, Saturday, with a full house on hand to enjoy games, refreshments, and a little history about what it was like to live in occupied Clarksville during the Civil War.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation offers Two Fall BCycle Tours

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville’s popular bike-sharing system, Clarksville BCycle, will host two fall bike tours that will provide riders a great way to discover Downtown.
Both tours will be led by William Parker, Historical Interpreter at Fort Defiance Interpretive Center & Civil War Park. Each participant will be provided a BCycle and a safety vest. Participants are encouraged to bring their own bicycle helmet.

Clarksville, TN – The Fort Defiance Interpretive Center is proud to host the City’s Civil War Summer Camp for history savvy youth. The Camp will be two, one-week sessions for boys and girls in the 5th and 6th grades this June.
