Clarksville’s Riverfest Regatta brings excitement to Festival

Clarksville's Riverfest CelebrationClarksville, TN – Truly one of the most unique, fun, events at Clarksville’s Riverfest is the Regatta boat race. Unlike other boat races, participants in the Regatta compete in boats made from cardboard, plastic bottles and other approved materials.

The race kicked off at 10:00am at the McGregor boat dock. Competitors raced 100 yards on the Cumberland River to the finish line.

Clarksville Police and Clarksville Parks & Recreation strive to “Bridge the Gap” with Summer Night Lights program

This however, is not the case in Clarksville where Parks and Recreation is joining forces with the Clarksville Police Department to bring forth “Bridging the Gap Week” as a part of the Mayor’s Summer Night Lights program on Monday, July 20th at the Kleeman Community Center and Wednesday, July 22nd at Summit Heights from 5:30pm to 9:00pm each night. Free food and drinks will be provided!

Clarksville Police Department brings Christmas Cheer to 120 local kids

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On Saturday, December 14th, 2013, at 8:00am, the Clarksville Police Union and FOP’s, “Shop with a Cop” was a great success. Officers took over 120 local children, from all over Montgomery County, shopping. Each child spent $100 on clothes and toys.

The children were nominated by 18 Montgomery County Elementary school guidance counselors, Clarksville Police Department employees, and Montgomery County citizens. Every effort was made to find children in need, and make sure they received gifts for Christmas.

Clarksville Police Union “Clothe a Child” event Saturday

September 13, 2013

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On Saturday, September 14th 2013, at the Sango Wal-Mart, at 8:00am, the Clarksville Police Union will be taking fifty under-privileged children clothes shopping. Each child will get to spend $100.00.

The children have been selected from 10 elementary schools spread throughout Montgomery County. The event will last no more than (1) one hour. Detective Tyler Barrett urges anyone to come out to assist and that the event should be fun for all involved.

The Civitan ClubCunningham, TN – On Saturday, July 27th, the Central Civitan Club held the 105th Annual Lone Oak Picnic from 9:00am to 3:00pm at the Central Civitan Building located on Alonzo Place in Southern Montgomery County. By 11:00am, the parking area was overflowing with cars and trucks of those in attendance.

“This morning it was threatening rain, but the sun came out and we have a beautiful day for the event,” stated Central Civitan officer Larry Pitts.

Clarksville Police Officers bring a Merry Christmas to 210 children and their families

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – On December 15th, 2012, the Clarksville Department in conjunction with the Clarksville Police Union and Fraternal Order of Police made the holidays much brighter for 210 local children by sponsoring the children to a holiday shopping spree at one of the three area, Walmart Supercenter’s. The Police Union and Fraternal Order of Police spent over $20,000 to ensure these kids would have Christmas to remember.

“In these tough economic times when we have so many parents being laid off or losing their jobs as companies downsize; for some of these children, this will be their only Christmas,” said Tyler Barrett, President of the Clarksville Police Union. “We reached out to these families and try to assist them and make sure that their children are able to have the Christmas they deserve.”
