Austin Peay State University engineering technology students excel at state conference

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Three students in the Austin Peay State University Department of Engineering Technology recently earned top honors at the 125th Tennessee Academy of Science Meeting, held in Murfreesboro, TN.

APSU student Nicole Kirch won the first prize in the engineering and engineering technology posters section, with her paper titled “Comparison of the effectiveness of various filters on audio signals.” Kirch worked with Dr. Na Zhu, APSU associate professor of engineering technology.

APSU makes impression at Tennessee Academy of Science’s Centennial Meeting

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Earlier this month, a group of Austin Peay State University students and faculty members traveled to Vanderbilt University and made an impressive showing at the Tennessee Academy of Science’s Centennial Meeting.

During that meeting, which celebrated the 100th gathering of the state’s top scientific and mathematical minds, several members of the APSU community were recognized for their outstanding work. In the math and computer science competition of the meeting, chaired by APSU associate professor of mathematics Dr. Ben Ntatin, APSU students placed first and second in oral presentations of their research. Austin Peay State University students earn top awards at Tennessee Academy of Science Conference

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Last October, a group of Austin Peay State University mathematics and computer science students headed south to Jackson, TN, to attend the 121st annual meeting of the Tennessee Academy of Science. The event, hosted by Union University, brought together some 200 researchers and college students from across the state for two intense days of academic presentations.

Everyone seemed to have a good time, but earlier this month, several of those students learned that the conference was more fruitful than they realized. That’s because the awards for presentations were recently announced, with first-, second- and third-place prizes all going to APSU students. [Read more]
