Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Community Concert Association and the Austin Peay State University Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts invite the community to enjoy a beautiful evening of chamber music 7:30pm Friday, September 28th, 2018 as APSU welcomes the Miró Quartet to the stage of the George and Sharon Mabry Concert Hall.
Acuff Chair of Excellence recipient Dorothy Allison to give April 7th author reading at Austin Peay

Clarksville, TN – Award-winning writer, poet and novelist Dorothy Allison, the current Roy Acuff Chair of Excellence recipient, will be on the campus of Austin Peay State University on Friday, April 7th for an evening reading of her work.
The event, which takes place at 8:00pm, will be held at the George and Sharon Mabry Concert Hall on the University campus and is free to the public.
Allison has won a number of literary awards, including two Lambda Literary Awards and the American Library Association Prize for Lesbian and Gay Writing for her 1988 short story collection, “Trash.”
Grammy winner Rhonda Larson to visit APSU as final Acuff Chair of Excellence of 2014-15

Clarksville, TN – The final Roy Acuff Chair of Excellence recipient of 2014-15, Grammy Award winning flutist Rhonda Larson, will bring her talents to campus for a series of lectures and master classes at Austin Peay State University the week of April 21st-28th.
During her residency, Larson will share her experiences as a performing artist, as well as offering insight and lessons to APSU and area students. Her visit to campus will conclude on Tuesday, April 28th, with a concert with the APSU Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Gregory Wolynec. The event will take place at 7:30pm at the Mabry Concert Hall, on the campus of APSU.
Visual art and creative writing collide at new APSU exhibit at Framemaker Gallery

Acclaimed performance artist Tim Miller comes to APSU as Acuff Chair

Clarksville, TN – Several years ago, the internationally acclaimed performance artist Tim Miller began a romantic relationship with an Australian citizen. Things went well at first, but when the couple looked at settling down in America, they encountered an unexpected obstacle – immigration.
Normally that isn’t too much of a problem for binational relationships. If the couple is serious, they’ll simple marry, allowing the other partner to remain in this country legally. But Miller’s situation was different. He was gay.
“If you have an international partner, but you’re not allowed to marry, how do you deal with that,” Marcus Hayes, associate professor of theater and dance at APSU, said. [Read more]
Stellar Theater and Dance Performers to Visit APSU this Year as Acuff Chairs

Clarksville, TN – For more than 50 years, Chicago’s famed Second City Theater and School of Improvisation has produced some of the country’s most beloved comedic talents. Its alumni – consisting of luminaries like Bill Murray, John Belushi, Steve Carell and Tina Fey – have gone on to successful careers in movies and television shows such as Saturday Night Live and the Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
At 7:30pm on October 7th, the group’s touring company will visit Clarksville to perform its hilariously original works on the Austin Peay State University campus.
