APSU names retired Brigadier General Scott Brower as inaugural military adviser in residence

Clarksville, TN – On September 1st, 2018 retired Brigadier General Scott E. Brower, former deputy commanding general of the 101st Airborne Division, joined Austin Peay State University’s (APSU) senior leadership team as the institution’s first military adviser in residence.
In this new role, Brower will advise the APSU leadership team on how the University can better serve its military students and help the University optimize the process of recruiting, enrolling and graduating military-connected students.
Former 101st deputy commanding general to speak at APSU’s summer commencement

Clarksville, TN – Brigadier General Scott E. Brower, former deputy commanding general of the 101st Airborne Division, will deliver the keynote address at Austin Peay State University’s summer commencement at 2:00pm on August 10th, 2018 in the APSU Dunn Center.
Brower, a Passaic, New Jersey native, graduated from the U.S. Military Academy in 1989 and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Air Defense Artillery.

Military and Veteran Graduate Recognition Ceremony December 7th for APSU Fall Graduates

Clarksville, TN – Active duty military and veteran students graduating from Austin Peay State University in December will be honored with an APSU military coin and a special cord to wear with their commencement regalia.
The military and veteran graduate recognition and coin presentation ceremony, with the theme “All Hail to Those Who Serve,” is scheduled for 5:00pm, Wednesday, December 7th in the Mabry Concert Hall, located inside the Music/Mass Communication Building on the University campus. The event is open to the public.
Fort Campbell Garrison Commander Colonel James R. Salome to speak at APSU’s Summer Commencement

Clarksville, TN – Fort Campbell Garrison Commander Colonel James R. Salome will deliver the keynote address at Austin Peay State University’s 88th Summer Commencement on August 5th.
Salome took command of Fort Campbell on June 18th, 2015, after arriving from Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where he served as the Commander’s Initiatives Group director, U.S. Army Forces Command. Salome previously served with 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, as an operations officer.

Clarksville, TN – Colonel Rob Salome, garrison commander at Fort Campbell, will visit Austin Peay State University at 8:00am on April 28th to help recognize an outstanding APSU ROTC cadet during the annual CSM Darol Walker Award Ceremony and Breakfast.
Jack B. Turner established the award several years ago in honor of Darol Walker, retired vice president of Jack B. Turner and Associates Inc. in Clarksville and retired command sergeant major in the U.S. Army.
APSU students, Fort Campbell soldiers earn medals at 40th Annual Military Culinary Arts Competitive

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University made its mark on the national stage recently as active duty soldiers, including APSU students, stationed at Fort Campbell traveled to Fort Lee, VA for the 40th Annual Military Culinary Arts Competitive Training Event (MCACTE).
Held March 7th-12th, service members from the U.S. Army, other Department of Defense components and multinational teams squared off for the title of top military chef.

Clarksville, TN – Mike Krause is the type of person who likes a challenge. In the fall of 2006, he completed his bachelor’s degree at Austin Peay State University while still serving as a soldier in the 101st Airborne Division.
Eight years later, as executive director of the Tennessee Promise and Drive to 55 Initiative in the Office of Governor Bill Haslam, he is in charge of one of the most ambitious programs in the state’s history.
