Brown Foundation endows nursing scholarship at Austin Peay State University

Springfield, TN – For several decades, the late Stokes Brown worked to improve the health of his community in Robertson County. He was instrumental in bringing the first hospital to the area, and later as a member of the hospital board, he supported a special fund that paid medical bills for the impoverished.
Earlier this month, the Robertson County community again benefited from his generous legacy when the Brown Family Foundation endowed a six-figure nursing scholarship at Austin Peay State University.
APSU celebrates opening of Highland Crest Campus

Clarksville, TN – To help students earn degrees, sometimes a college or university has to go beyond its campus map and take education to where the students are.
That is what Austin Peay State University is doing at the new Highland Crest Campus in Springfield Tennessee.
“The future belongs to learners,” APSU President Tim Hall told a standing-room-only crowd June 22nd at the grand opening of Highland Crest Campus, Robertson County’s first higher education facility. “We are helping students to manufacture income factories of their own. Those earnings will be going to the life of this area.”

Clarksville, TN – This fall, both Austin Peay State University and Volunteer State Community College will offer classes and degree programs at the new Highland Crest Campus in Springfield.
To get new students started, the two schools will hold an Open House Celebration and College Day from 11:00am-7:00pm, Wednesday, June 22nd. A ribbon cutting ceremony, sponsored by the Robertson County Chamber of Commerce, will be held at noon. Lunch and bluegrass music will be provided for future students, guests and the public.
