Clarksville, TN – Tennessee State Representative Jay Reedy, a U.S. Army veteran and Austin Peay State University alumnus, will be the guest speaker at APSU’s Spring 2018 Military and Veteran Graduate Recognition Ceremony and Coin Presentation next week.
The ceremony, set for 5:00pm on Wednesday, May 2nd, 2018 in the Morgan University Center Ballroom, honors Austin Peay’s graduating students who are either veterans, National Guard, reservists or active-duty military personnel.
Eight APSU ROTC cadets named Distinguished Military Graduate

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University had eight ROTC cadets designated Distinguished Military Graduates, representing the top 20 percent in the nation among 5,592 cadets.
One of APSU’s eight cadets, Sean Hunt – who received the prestigious Legion of Valor Bronze Cross Award last month – is ranked No. 11 in the nation.

Clarksville, TN – When Darlene Howell, coordinator of the Austin Peay State University Military Student Center, was called out of her office on Wednesday afternoon, she was a bit confused. Why were there so many people – including APSU President Tim Hall – gathered in the Center, watching her every move?
But then Bob Beaty, a volunteer with the Department of Defense’s Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), stepped forward to clear things up by presenting Howell with an award.
Sesame Street and USO Experience for Military Families USO tour

Fort Campbell, KY – On April 14th and 15th, the Sesame Street and USO Experience for Military Families USO tour put on three free performances for Fort Campbell families active duty, Retirees, National Guard, reserves and Department of Defense Civilians. Over 1,800 people came out to watch the shows.
The 30 minute performance was a special event for the military community since it is specifically designed to educate children about coping with military deployments and homecomings.

THDA Announces Special Rate for Veterans

Clarksville, TN – A special mortgage interest rate discount has been approved for active and retired members of the military by Tennessee Housing Development Agency’s Board of Directors.
Service members can apply for the “Homeownership for the Brave” discount which is a ½-percent interest reduction on any of the three mortgage choices at lenders working with THDA. THDA offers 30-year fixed rate mortgages, with or without downpayment assistance, for persons of low to moderate income. The program began April 1st and is available through March 31st, 2012. On Thursday, the Hispanic Organization for Progress & Education issued the Juan Vasquez scholarship to 4 High School Students from the Clarksville-Montgomery County Area: Yarliz Rodriguez, Francis Nicole Griffin, Rebecca S.
