APSU’s WAPX-FM celebrates 35 years as campus radio station

Clarksville, TN – The national anthem was missing. Inside a small, dilapidated building on the Austin Peay State University (APSU) campus, three students frantically searched through vinyl albums and beneath heavy reel-to-reel tapes for the record.
It was the early 1980s, and the clock inside the University’s new radio station, WAPX-FM, was about to hit midnight.
APSU hosting Military Appreciation Day during November 5th football game

Clarksville, TN – This Saturday, November 5th, 2016, the Austin Peay State University athletics department will honor local veterans and military-affiliated individuals with a special Military Appreciation Day during APSU’s 4:00pm football game at Fortera Stadium.
All veterans, active-duty personnel and their families will receive free admission to the game with a current military I.D., and several military vehicles will be on display in tailgate alley and inside the stadium.
Clarksville-Montgomery County Memorial Day Service honors those who died serving our Country

Clarksville, TN – On Monday, May 25th, the Montgomery County Veterans Service Organization held its annual Memorial Day Ceremony. Due to rain, the ceremony was held in the William O. Beach Civic Hall, Veterans Plaza in Clarksville Tennessee.
The ceremony was opened by Frank Mir, the Director of the Montgomery County Veterans Service Organization. Mir welcomed the dignitaries and attendees to the Memorial ceremony. The colors were posted by the 101st Airborne Division Honor Guard, and Stella McKnight sang the National Anthem.
Clarksville kicks off 4th of July with seventh annual Independence Day Celebration, July 3rd, 2014

Clarksville, TN – On Thursday, July 3rd, thousands of Clarksvillians made their way to Liberty Park for the City of Clarksville’s seventh annual Independence Day Celebration. Attendees enjoyed live music, drinks, and food such as funnel cakes, hotdogs, and other festival favorites.
The evening got started with the presentation of the colors and Staff Sergeant Scott Letourneau of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment singing the National Anthem. Musical entertainment was provided by local performers Eight O’Five Jive and the 101st Airborne Division rock band Cover Down. “This is great!,” said Staff Sgt. Aaron Fast, the band leader when I asked him what he thought about the turn out. “We love coming out and playing for the public. There are thousands of people out here, and it’s really really cool. We play for soldiers all the time but it’s great to get out in the public and have a chance to play for a community that shows their support for Fort Campbell and the soldiers like Clarksville does.”

City of Clarksville’s Independence Day Celebration to take place at Liberty Park July 3rd

Clarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville is celebrating our nation’s independence this year with the seventh annual Independence Day Celebration on Thursday, July 3rd, 2014 at Liberty Park for food, fun and entertainment for the entire family.
The event is free and begins at 6:30pm. Seating is available throughout the park and the concerts will take place on the Great Lawn of the Wilma Rudolph Event Center.

Can’t sing but want can fill dead air with chatter? An announcer is the person behind the microphone at derby bouts that explains and entertains. Montgomery Central Elementary School’s 2nd annual Veteran’s Day Celebration

Cunningham, TN – On Friday, November 9th, 2012, Montgomery Central Elementary School held their 2nd annual “Veteran’s Day Celebration” to salute our Military in honor of Veteran’s Day. All of the students participated in the event with group performances as well as grade level performances.
The celebration started at 9:00am in the MCES gymnasium. Several veterans and current members of the Armed Services were on hand to be honored. The students were wearing lots of red, white and blue colors.

Fort Campbell Federal Credit Union Hosts Welcome Home Concert at Fort Campbell

Fort Campbell, KY – Early Saturday afternoon several country music stars made their way to the division parade field to honor the soldiers of the 101st Airborne Division.
Prior to the show, Charles English with the band Rocket City said there is alot of great talent here today and they are motivated by the soldiers.
Darryl Worley, Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry, Mark Willis and Buddy Jewell along with some new comers all ready to perform for the the soldiers and their families during this holiday weekend.
