Visitor Spending Expected to Total $2.5 Million
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville-Montgomery County is poised to welcome nearly 3,000 guests next week for two divisions of the Amateur Athletic Union’s Boy’s 10-and-Under National Basketball Championships.
Since 1999, the city has hosted dozens of regional and national AAU basketball events. This year, 53 teams from 16 states including Utah, New York, Texas, New Jersey, Michigan, Maryland, Louisiana, Indiana and most states bordering Tennessee, will make their way to Clarksville for championship play.

The 10th Anniversary of 9/11
Clarksville, TN – “America Sings!” will be held Sunday, September 11th, 2011 at the Austin Peay University, Clement Auditorium from 12:00pm to 3:30pm.
Many of the performers have served in the military, come from military families, or volunteered their time playing for our troops both nationally and internationally. They are ALL donating their time and talents for this effort, which will be submitted to The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) for their “10th Anniversary Challenge”, allowing Clarksville to qualify for a grant to be used to support future 9/11 events and projects. TDOT Announces Aeronautics Grants for 14 Tennessee Airports

$6,690,332 Provides for Infrastructure and Other Improvements
Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Transportation announced today that federal and state aeronautics grants totaling $6,690,332 have been approved for 14 Tennessee airports.
Clarksville’s Outlaw Field received a $300,000 grant.
APSU Artist Shipley Displays Work at Nashville Airport

Clarksville, TN – Every day, hundreds of people from across the country arrive at the Nashville International Airport, and, shortly after getting off the plane, among the first things they see in Tennessee are the innovative and highly-stylized ceramic sculptures by artist Ken Shipley.
That’s because Shipley, an Austin Peay State University associate professor of art, is among only a handful of artists from across the state to have his work exhibited at the airport as part of the “Flying Solo Series: Winter 2011.” The exhibit is part of Arts at the Airport, which is funded by the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority and the Tennessee Arts Commission.
