Clarksville, TN – Faculty and staff members at Austin Peay State University recently announced a number of achievements as part of their professional and scholarly activities.
Dr. Dixie Dennis, associate provost for grants and dean of the College of Graduate Studies, recently contributed three chapters to the new scholarly book, “The A-Z of Death and Dying: Social, Medical, and Cultural Aspects,” edited by Michael Brennan. Dennis wrote the chapters, “Definition of Death,” “Funerals” and “Near-Death Experiences.” [Read more]
2014 Cultural Calendars Now Available through Clarksville-Montgomery County Arts and Heritage Development Council

Clarksville, TN – The 2014 Cultural Calendar, produced by the Clarksville-Montgomery County Arts and Heritage Development Council, is now available online and at several local shops.
Each month of the calendar features an original work by a local artist, depicting a scene in Montgomery County, along with highlights of arts and heritage activities planned by community organizations for that month.

Clarksville, TN – Faculty and staff members at Austin Peay State University recently announced a number of publications, conferences and credentials as part of their professional and scholarly activities.
Michele Tyndall, project manager in the APSU Office of Public Relations and Marketing, and Dr. Melony Shemberger, former assistant director of communication at APSU, will present a session at The Council for Advancement and Support Education’s District III Conference in Orlando, FL, this February. Shemberger now is assistant professor of journalism at Murray State University. [Read more]

Montgomery County names Franklin Mir as new Veterans Service Organization Director

Montgomery County, TN – The Montgomery County Mayor’s Office is pleased to announce that Franklin Mir has been selected as the new Veterans Service Organization director.
He has most recently served as a Human Resources Specialist for the Personnel Service Battalion, Fort Campbell, KY.
Mir holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Sacred Heart and a master’s degree from Murray State University.

Clarksville, TN – The next meeting of the Clarksville (TN) Civil War Roundtable will be on Wednesday, May 15th, 2013 at the Bone & Joint Center, 980 Professional Park Drive, right across the street from Gateway Hospital. This is just off Dunlop Lane and Holiday Drive and only a few minutes east of Governor’s Square mall.
The meeting begins at 7:00pm and is always open to the public. Members please bring a friend or two – new recruits are always welcomed.

Fletcher has 32 years of experience in the banking industry, including five years with the First National Bank in McMinnville, Tennessee, working as a commercial lender, chief credit officer, and president/chief operating officer.
Previously, he had worked in collections, credit administration, branch management and commercial lending.
