Clarksville-Montgomery County Regional Airport becomes Green Certified

Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification ProgramMontgomery County, TN – On Thursday, August 1st, 2019, the Clarksville-Montgomery County Regional Airport was honored as the latest Green Certified organization. A green ribbon cutting was held to celebrate the achievement and to welcome the Airport to the Green Certification Program.

The Airport is the 122nd organization to complete the Green Certification Program requirements. The green ribbon cutting was attended by Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts, City of Clarksville Chief of Staff James Halford Jr., Green Certification Program Manager Carlye Sommers, and Green Certification Program Board Members Doug Jones (Montgomery County) and Haley Randell (APSU).

Clarksville-Montgomery County Recertification Refresher Class at Agero

Clarksville-Montgomery County Green Certification ProgramMontgomery County, TN – On Tuesday, June 20th, Agero hosted the Clarksville-Montgomery County’s Green Certification Program’s refresher class. Thirty-one attendees representing many of the organizations that originally certified in 2013 and 2015 participated in the class.

The class reviewed the latest environmental concerns in our community, discussed the impacts on the environment, and shared their ideas and continued improvements within their own organizations.

Lowe’s Heroes Teams Up with Montgomery County Animal Care and Control

Montgomery County Animal Care and ControlMontgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Animal Care and Control (MCACC) is pleased to partner with the Madison Street Lowe’s for the store’s annual Lowe’s Heroes Project.

On September 28th, 29th and 30th, MCACC will be taken over by Lowe’s Heroes employee volunteers and other community volunteers that wish to join in. Work includes interior facility painting, exterior wood staining, landscaping and outside kennel roofing.

Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) fills Administrator Positions

Clarksville-Montgomery County School System - CMCSSMontgomery County, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) has selected three candidates to fill administrator positions for the upcoming school year.

Current assistant principal, Scott Wainwright, has been appointed to serve as the principal of New Providence Middle School. Rossview Middle School teacher, Jenette Spurbeck, has been chosen as an assistant principal at Clarksville High School (CHS). Richview Middle School (RIMS) teacher, Lisa Courson, has been selected as an assistant principal at RIMS.

Montgomery County Animal Care and Control to host Tales for Tails Events in July

July 11, 2016

Montgomery County Animal Care and ControlMontgomery County, TN – Montgomery County Animal Care and Control will host a Tales for Tails event each Thursday throughout July, at 10:30am, at their facility, 616 North Spring Street.

Children are invited to come listen to stories read by volunteers while cuddling cats and kittens awaiting adoption.

Stories are appropriate for elementary ages, but all ages are welcome.

Clarksville-Montgomery County School System names Melody Nix Burt Elementary School Principal

She will replace Diana Hara, who is retiring at the end of this school year.

Montgomery County Driver Safety Program brings ThinkFast Initiative to High Schools

Montgomery County TennesseeMontgomery County, TN – The Montgomery County Driver Safety Program recently brought the ThinkFast Interactive program to students at Montgomery Central High School. ThinkFast Interactive, sponsored by Nissan America and the Tennessee Governor’s Highway Safety Office, uses a game show setting to connect young people with factual, relevant information related to various personal health and safety issues such as impaired driving, seat belt safety, and distracted driving.

Two CMCSS High Schools Make U.S. News Ranking

Clarksville-Montgomery County School System - CMCSSMontgomery County, TN – Two Clarksville-Montgomery County School System high schools are listed in the 2015 U.S. News & World Report’s Best High Schools project, which identifies the country’s top-performing public high schools.

Kenwood High School and the Middle College at Austin Peay State University were both named in the listing, each meeting the criteria of the bronze level.

Call for Artwork Submissions for 2016 Clarksville Arts & Heritage Cultural Calendar

Clarksville Arts and Heritage Development CouncilClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Arts and Heritage Development Council (AHDC) is putting out a call to artists who are interested in having their work featured in the eighth annual Cultural Calendar. Each month will feature an artist’s work and highlight upcoming arts and heritage events.

Submitted work will be juried to determine which piece is featured each month, as well as which artwork appears on the cover. As in years past, calendars will be available through AHDC’s website, as well as in the Customs House Museum’s “Seasons” gift shop and other locations around town.

CMCSS makes new Administrative Appointments

Clarksville-Montgomery County School System - CMCSSMontgomery County, TN – The Clarksville Montgomery County School System today announced two new administrative appointments.

Jaime Dye Holder, the theatre arts teacher at Northwest High School, has been selected as the assistant principal at Kenwood Middle School.

Linda Medina-Griffy, assistant principal at Montgomery Central Elementary School, will become the assistant principal at Minglewood Elementary School.
