November 20, 2018

Austin Peay State University (APSU)

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The name “Jane Doe” sounds a bit impersonal, so for years, one of Austin Peay State University’s (APSU) anonymous donors was known simply as “Ms. Jane.”

This alias was often whispered in the University’s Advancement Office, as if the staff worried they were revealing too much of her identity, and it wasn’t unusual for students to cry when mentioning her name.

APSU student learns about D.C.’s heel-wearing habits (and psychology) at Peace Corps

July 19, 2018

Austin Peay State University (APSU)

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Folks don’t hurry around Washington, D.C., wearing high heels, especially red-soled Louboutin heels. That’s an observation Austin Peay State University psychology major Loren Carmichael recently made in a blog about her Peace Corps internship in the U.S. capital.

The Memphis native is spending her summer working with the Peace Corps’ Counseling and Outreach Unit, which provides phone consultation to volunteers struggling with emotional health. The unit also handles emergencies affecting volunteers and their families.

APSU launches Gov Life ongoing series of student success profiles

December 14, 2017

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) sophomore Elijah-Pharaoh Carter, better known as the “Violin Guy”, spends every Friday entertaining students passing through campus by playing his violin, an instrument he has studied most of his life and has performed with on the stage of New York City’s famed Carnegie Hall.

But Carter’s story is not defined by an instrument — or a funny nickname, for that matter. While music was his first love, the Memphis native came to Austin Peay in pursuit of a different dream — earning a bachelor’s degree in computer science.
