Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts (CECA) recently announce that Bryce McCloud, of Nashville Tennessee, is the 2018-19 recipient of the Tennessee Artist Fellowship.
The CECA Tennessee Artist Fellowship was created to celebrate contemporary art and to support the continued creative work of exceptional Tennessee artists.

Clarksville, TN – The name “Jane Doe” sounds a bit impersonal, so for years, one of Austin Peay State University’s (APSU) anonymous donors was known simply as “Ms. Jane.”
This alias was often whispered in the University’s Advancement Office, as if the staff worried they were revealing too much of her identity, and it wasn’t unusual for students to cry when mentioning her name.
2018 Austin Peay State University Homecoming King and Queen Crowned

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University announced the 2018 APSU Homecoming Court and crowned Homecoming King and Queen during halftime at the APSU Governors football game against Tennessee Tech at Fortera Stadium this past Saturday, October 27th.
LaQuandra McGhee a senior Social Work major was crowned Homecoming Queen. McGhee from Antioch Tennessee was sponsored by Kappa Alpha Psi, NPHC, SODA.
Business Accounting major Jake Bumpus from Ashland City Tennessee crowned Homecoming King. Bumpus was sponsored by Chi Omega Women’s Fraternity.
APSU student learns about D.C.’s heel-wearing habits (and psychology) at Peace Corps

Clarksville, TN – Folks don’t hurry around Washington, D.C., wearing high heels, especially red-soled Louboutin heels. That’s an observation Austin Peay State University psychology major Loren Carmichael recently made in a blog about her Peace Corps internship in the U.S. capital.
The Memphis native is spending her summer working with the Peace Corps’ Counseling and Outreach Unit, which provides phone consultation to volunteers struggling with emotional health. The unit also handles emergencies affecting volunteers and their families.

Austin Peay State University Choral Program thrives during busy year

Clarksville, TN – On a recent February afternoon, Dr. Korre Foster, Austin Peay State University associate professor of music, sat in his office, looking surprisingly alert. It’s been a busy year for the University’s famed choral program, and with a raise of his eyebrows, Foster said he intends to maintain its strong reputation.
“We continue to become more well known,” he said. “Schools from Memphis want to come three hours just to perform here with us.”

APSU launches Gov Life ongoing series of student success profiles

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) sophomore Elijah-Pharaoh Carter, better known as the “Violin Guy”, spends every Friday entertaining students passing through campus by playing his violin, an instrument he has studied most of his life and has performed with on the stage of New York City’s famed Carnegie Hall.
But Carter’s story is not defined by an instrument — or a funny nickname, for that matter. While music was his first love, the Memphis native came to Austin Peay in pursuit of a different dream — earning a bachelor’s degree in computer science.
