APSU business students excel at investment competitions

That’s because a group of APSU business students recently earned several prominent accolades for their work overseeing close to a million dollars in investment funds.

APSU Professor of Finance Dr. Michael Phillips receives inaugural A.J. Taylor Distinguished Professorship

Clarksville, TN – After receiving his doctorate from Mississippi State University in 1992, Austin Peay State University Professor of Finance Dr. Michael Phillips found himself in the right place at the right time for an opportunity that would change both his life and a department interested in a fresh perspective.
A California native, Phillips was prepared to look west for a teaching opportunity when a friend suggested Austin Peay contact him for an open teaching position in the College of Business.
Austin Peay State University Professor of Finance, Dr. Michael Phillips received the AJ Taylor Distinguished Professorship. This is awarded to a College of Business faculty member each year who has demonstrated exceptional scholarly work or innovative teaching practices.
APSU College of Business officially opens Larry W. Carroll Financial Trading Center at ribbon cutting ceremony

Clarksville, TN – Members of the Austin Peay State University and Clarksville-Montgomery County communities got to see the future of the University’s College of Business on Tuesday, November 14th, 2017 as it celebrated the opening of the new Larry W. Carroll Financial Trading Center, located on the first floor of the Kimbrough Building, during a public ribbon cutting ceremony.

Grand opening for Larry W. Carroll Trading Center at APSU set for November 14th

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University College of Business will take a major step forward this month when it officially opens the new Larry W. Carroll Financial Trading Center.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new space will take place at 10:00am on Tuesday, November 14th, 2017 on the first floor of the APSU Kimbrough Building. The event is free and open to the public.

APSU holds Historic First Board of Trustees meeting

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University convened its inaugural Board of Trustees meeting Thursday, March 30th, completing the transition from the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) to its own local governing board.
Austin Peay President Alisa White, joined by Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and observed by University faculty and staff, as well as media and members of the community, called the ‘historic’ first meeting to order.

Clarksville, TN – In a few months, Austin Peay State University will officially turn 90, and anyone who happened to be on campus when the school first opened in the late 1920s would likely not recognize it today.

APSU alumnus Carroll provides lead gift for new trading room on campus

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University is about 900 miles from New York City’s financial district, but a new trading room in the University’s Kimbrough Building will soon allow APSU business students to mimic the work of Wall Street’s top financiers.
The proposed trading room will have 16 computer stations and a Bloomberg terminal, providing APSU business students with the same tools used by financial professionals around the world.
