State of Tennessee awards APSU $100,000 grant to host Veterans’ Reconnect Conference

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) was recently awarded a $100,000 grant from the Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC) to host a two-day Veterans’ Reconnect Conference on the University’s campus.

The conference, “Bridging the Gaps: Tennessee Institutions Leading the Change for Military/Veteran Transition,” will take place October 14th-15th, 2019 at the APSU Morgan University Center.

APSU aviation science program approved for veterans training, meaning ‘little or no cost’ for veterans

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) aviation science program recently received approval for veterans education benefits, meaning veterans can earn the degree at “little or no cost.”

The program – which has a concentration in helicopters (or rotor wing) – is Tennessee’s first rotorcraft flight school that offers a bachelor’s degree.

Austin Peay State University (APSU) officials on Wednesday, January 9th, 2019 unveiled the first of three helicopters in its new rotor-wing fleet. The helicopters bolster the state’s first and only aviation science program with a rotor-wing concentration.

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – In Clarksville, it’s not unusual to see military aircraft flying over town, but next year, a new bachelor’s degree program at Austin Peay State University will put a few civilian helicopters into the local sky.

That’s because the University is in the final approval stages of a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Science, with a concentration in rotor wing (helicopters), beginning next fall. The program will be the first rotor-wing flight school attached to a bachelor’s degree in the state.

APSU receives $79,954 in THEC funding to help veterans and service members earn degrees

July 26, 2017

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC) recently announced that Austin Peay State University will receive $79,954 in additional funding and program support to serve veterans and service members and help them earn post-secondary degrees as a part of Governor Bill Haslam’s Drive to 55.

Austin Peay is one of 13 colleges and universities in Tennessee to receive a portion of the $760,781 in total Veteran Reconnect funds to support programs and services for student veterans at campuses across the state.
