Clarksville Parks and Recreation says one week remains to enter Riverfest Virtual Talent Competition

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – As the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic continues to have a widespread impact, the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is adapting the traditional three-day Riverfest celebration into nearly two weeks of in-person and virtual events.

The Riverfest Virtual Talent Competition is included in the lineup of events, and only one week remains for contest entries.

Participants have until August 26th, 2020 to complete an online application that includes a video of their performance that is no more than four minutes in length.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department to hold Virtual 5K

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Whether you’re already active, looking to get off the couch, or just want to stay indoors, this newest Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department event is for you.

Beginning at 5:00pm on April 24th, 2020, registration will open for the first-ever Clarksville Parks and Recreation Virtual 5k. The event is designed to allow participants to choose between three varying distances. Participants can complete their run anywhere and anytime between April 24th, 2020 and May 24th, 2020.

Runners are encouraged to use Liberty Park or the Clarksville Greenway, as mile markers will be placed at those parks within the next week.

Clarksville Park and Recreation’s Fright on Franklin provides Halloween Family Fun

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s annual Fright on Franklin was a huge success, with thousands coming out to enjoy great weather, cute costumes and seemingly endless buckets of candy.

This year’s activities were rescheduled for Sunday, which turned out to be a great move, as areas of Clarksville were devastated by strong winds that moved through Montgomery County Saturday afternoon.

About 70 tents were lined up along Franklin Street, Public Square, First Street and Strawberry Alley, from which costumed volunteers from local businesses and organizations handed out treats from 3:00pm to 6:00pm.

Riverfest provides something for Everyone

RiverFest 2019Clarksville, TN – By all accounts, this year’s Riverfest was a big success. The weather was perfect, attendance was strong, and the entertainment was top-notch.

Three days of activities began Thursday evening with the annual Riverfest Art Show at Wilma Rudolph Event Center. Kara Zahn and her team did a great job this year, bringing in a full house to view dozens of entries in multiple categories and age divisions.

Montgomery Gentry closed Riverfest 2019 in style, with a big crowd lining the hillside in front of the Miller Lite stage to watch an impressive Saturday night performance.

Chocolate AffairClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department hosted its annual Chocolate Affair at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center on Saturday, February 2nd where 600 local fans of the cacao bean indulged in the ongoing chocolate love-affair that mankind began thousands of years ago.

Fright on Franklin has Large Turnout in Chilly Weather

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Ghouls and goblins took over Downtown Clarksville Saturday during Fright on Franklin. Despite the cold, hundreds filled the streets to take part in safe trick or treating and Halloween fun.

More than 70 local organizations and businesses took part providing candy and treats for those in attendance.

Riverfest kicked off Thursday with annual Art Experience

September 8, 2017

2017 RiverFestClarksville, TN – Riverfest 2017 kicked off Thursday night, September 7th, 2017 with its annual Art Experience, a juried art competition open to people of all ages and experience levels.

Kara Zahn is Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s event planning specialist and Art Experience coordinator. “This event was formerly known as Tour D’Art,” Zahn said. “For the last three years the different elements have all been combined to create a single event which has been held at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center.”
