APSU students recreate campus buildings out of graham crackers

Clarksville, TN – On November 20th, 2019, the Austin Peay State University (APSU) Woodward Library hosted its inaugural Graham Cracker Challenge, funded by a Student Academic Success Initiative (SASI) grant. APSU students submitted nine graham cracker structures modeling a building — past or present — on Austin Peay State University’s campus.

As part of National Friends of Libraries Week, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee signed a proclamation designating October 20th-26th, 2019, as Friends of Libraries Week in Tennessee.
APSU library advocates against censorship, celebrates Banned Books Week September 22nd-28th

Clarksville, TN – Libraries support an individual’s right to choose books freely for themselves. This year, the American Library Association (ALA) and the Felix G. Woodward Library at Austin Peay State University (APSU) are celebrating Banned Books Week September 22nd–28th, with the theme “Censorship Leaves Us in the Dark. Keep the Light On!” Banned Books Week is a time to recognize the right to access books without censorship and celebrate the freedom to read.

Students, staff and faculty submitted 15 food-based creations inspired by short stories, novels and children’s books.

APSU Woodward Library Society hosting annual Society Social on April 6th

Clarksville, TN – This April, the Austin Peay State University (APSU) Woodward Library Society will host its annual Society Social, featuring author Michael Doubler.
The Society Social, a library friend-raising and fundraising dinner, is scheduled for Saturday, April 6th, 2019 in the Franklin Room of the F&M Bank in downtown Clarksville. Social hour begins at 5:30pm followed by a buffet dinner catered by the Party Station.

Austin Peay State University’s Woodward Library Society’s 9th Society Social to be held April 1st

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s Woodward Library Society will host its ninth annual Society Social, featuring Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Jackie Crosby on Saturday, April 1st, 2017.
Crosby, now a reporter for the Minneapolis Star Tribune, won a Pulitzer Prize for specialized reporting in 1985 while working for the Macon Telegraph and News.
APSU, Woodward Library host exhibition on Lincoln and American Civil War

Clarksville, TN – In honor of the sesquicentennial of the Civil War, the Felix G. Woodward Library at Austin Peay State University is hosting an exhibition, titled “Lincoln: the Constitution and the Civil War.”
On display from September 4th through October 15th, the exhibition will celebrate its grand opening on Tuesday, September 8th at 3:00pm in the Woodward Library. APSU President Dr. Alisa White and Woodward Library Director Joe Weber will perform the ribbon cutting ceremony. [Read more]
Golf champion David Meador to speak at Woodward Library Society Spring Social, April 27th

Clarksville, TN – David Meador, a four-time golf national champion, once toyed with the idea of becoming a police officer. In the summer of 1966, the 18-year-old Meador worked part time as a police station radio operator, and one evening, he was invited to take a ride in a new police cruiser.
At some point during the night, the officer behind the wheel engaged in a high-speed pursuit of another vehicle, and he ended up crashing the new cruiser.
