Clarksville Department of Electricity - CDE - CDE LightbandClarksville, TN – CDE Lightband will host its annual Customer Expo on Saturday, September 30th, 2017 at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

This family friendly event is open to the public and not only allows CDE Lightband to share its appreciation for all customers, but also creates an opportunity to celebrate “community” with local organizations, businesses and families.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office announces Domestic Violence Awareness Event set for Saturday, October 10th

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOClarksville, TN – The 14th Annual Domestic Violence Awareness Event will be held Saturday, October 10th from 11:00am– 2:00pm at the Civic Hall at Veterans Plaza. Remember My Name is dedicated to mothers and children who have lost their lives from domestic violence.

Red wooden silhouettes will be on display throughout the event. Each silhouette represents a man, woman or child who died from domestic violence, along with their story. Some family members of victims will be there to commemorate their loved ones. [Read more]

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - MCSOMontgomery County, TN – Organizers hope an event tomorrow will help raise awareness of domestic violence and local victims.

Deputy Peggy Macias said the “Remember My Name” event was first brought to Montgomery County in October 2013, during Domestic Violence Awareness month, to Kenwood High School in memory of assistant principal Pam Cooper, who was killed by her ex-husband.

Austin Peay State University Botanical Garden showcases area’s rare and endangered plants

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – A few years ago, three tall, flowering cherry trees grew on the western side of Austin Peay State University’s Sundquist Science Complex. They provided a nice, welcoming entry into the building, but in 2007, Tennessee suffered from a record-setting drought.

Temperatures reached 113 degrees Fahrenheit that summer, and by the fall, the 20-foot tall trees were dead.

Market Update: November seems promising after an eventful October

Frazier AllenClarksville, TN – This has been an interesting month, to say the least. Not only did we mark the 83rd anniversary of the Black Tuesday stock market crash, but we also saw Hurricane Sandy shut down the New York Stock Exchange for two days during the final week of the month.

The last time a hurricane closed the NYSE was September 1985. We have to go back to 1888 for the last time markets closed on consecutive days due to weather. [Read more]

Hands on Clarksville receives Home Depot Grant for Veteran Weatherization Project

Hands On ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Hands on Clarksville is pleased to announce it has received a community grant from The Home Depot Foundation to help local veterans and their families with weatherization repairs.

With help from Home Depot’s Team Depot, community volunteers will implement the Hometown Heroes Weatherization Project in late February 2012.

According to the Home Depot Foundation website, Home Depot supports volunteering to improve the physical health of neighborhoods and help creates healthier and more stable environments where families can thrive. [Read more]

The Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce is giving you a head start with their 1st Annual Home, Lawn & Farm Show, which is being held this weekend (February 27-28) from 10am-8pm Saturday, and Sunday from 12-8pm at Austin Peay State University’s Red Barn at 256 Marion Street. General admission is $5, and children 12 & under are free.

Vendors will be available to help you accomplish all of your springtime goals, whether you want elaborate landscaping, a new patio or a simple flower bed. If you’re thinking about renovating or redecorating your home, you don’t want to miss this showcase of the year’s new trends and must-have items.
