Celebrity Photographer Raeanne Rubenstein Talks Warhol at the Customs House Museum

Clarksville's Customs House Museum and Cultural CenterClarksville, TN – The Customs House is exhibiting a suite of Andy Warhol portraits by renowned photographer Raeanne Rubenstein. Rubenstein’s exhibit, The Fascinating Mr. Warhol, is on display through May 4th.

The artist will be speaking about her experiences and her friendship with Mr. Warhol in a gallery talk on Tuesday, April 8th. The event, which begins at 7:00pm, is free to the public.

Acclaimed journalist Soledad O’Brien to speak at APSU Unity event March 25th

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – The award-winning broadcast journalist Soledad O’Brien doesn’t shy away from difficult subjects. Her reporting on Haitian orphanages following a massive earthquake in that country earned her an Emmy, and her work for CNN during Hurricane Katrina brought her and the network a George Foster Peabody Award.

At 7:00pm on March 25th, O’Brien will speak at the Memorial Health Gym (Red Barn) on the Austin Peay State University campus as part of the annual Student Affairs Unity Celebration. O’Brien will deliver a speech titled “Diversity: On TV, Behind the Scenes and In Our Lives.”

Clarksville’s Customs House Museum to host Andy Warhol Polaroid exhibit beginning March 6th

Clarksville's Customs House Museum and Cultural CenterClarksville, TN – A rare exhibition of Andy Warhol’s photographic portraits will be held at the Customs House Museum & Cultural Center. Sessions with Andy: Warhol Photography from the University of South Carolina Upstate opens in the Kimbrough Gallery on March 6th.

Andy Warhol is best known for his Pop Art paintings of Campbell’s Soup cans and Marilyn Monroe.

“Band of Brothers” Regiment to honor fallen warriors

Fort Campbell, KY – The U.S. Army unit that includes the famous “Band of Brothers,” the 506th Airborne Infantry Regiment, has announced a new monument to honor soldiers of the unit killed in service to their country. The 506th Airborne Infantry Regiment Association, a nonprofit veterans’ organization dedicated to the active duty soldiers and veterans of the 506th Infantry, is acting on behalf of the regiment to collect contributions in support of the memorial.

The granite monument will be funded totally by private contributions, according to COL John P. “Pete” Johnson, commanding officer of the 101st Airborne Division’s 4th Brigade Combat Team at Fort Campbell,. A Nashville cement contractor, Glenn Goodwin of Roy Goodwin Contractors, is contributing all the materials and labor needed for the foundation of the monument. COL Johnson made the announcement as part of a ceremony welcoming the regiment home from a combat tour of duty in Afghanistan. [Read more]
