APSU Governors Own Marching Band’s Day set for November 7th

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TNAustin Peay State University‘s Governors Own Marching Band will host its Fourth Annual Band Day, November 7th, at Governors Stadium during Austin Peay’s final regular-season home contest against Southeast Missouri.

Begun in 2012 with 82 high school students participating, the event has grown incrementally in the last two years, with 262 high school students in attendance for the 2014 edition. The students who participate get an up-close look at gameday for the GOMB, under the tutelage of Director of Athletic Bands John Schnettler.

Austin Peay State University’s Hannah Johstono wins Miss College Majorette of Tennessee, heads to Nationals

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TNAustin Peay State University featured twirler Hannah Johstono has demonstrated her talent and skill with a baton in front of crowds both large and small during her 14 years of twirling.

A regular with the Governor’s Own Marching Band for the past four seasons, Johstono has captivated everyone from APSU fans gathered in Governor Stadium’s Tailgate Alley to 100,000 fans at Neyland Stadium as the Governors took on the University of Tennessee Volunteers.

Clarksville Writers ConferenceClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Arts and Heritage Development Council will honor novelist Sharyn McCrumb with their first-ever Patricia Winn Award for Southern Fiction at the June 4th Clarksville Writers Conference banquet.

McCrum, award-winning Southern writer best known for her Appalachian “Ballad” novels, including a number of New York Times bestsellers, will also give the keynote address at Thursday evening’s banquet at Club Level of Austin Peay State University‘s newly renovated Governors Stadium, featuring a gorgeous view of this historic campus.

All camps take place on campus and are led by Governors coaches and student-athletes with an occasional guest appearance by some Governors’ greats. Austin Peay camps also are fully staffed and sponsored by Gatorade, offering an unmatched experience and look inside what it’s like to be a college athlete.

37th Annual Queen City Road Race is this Saturday

37th Annual Queen City Road RaceClarksville, TN – The 37th Annual Queen City Road Race, scheduled for Saturday, May 2nd, is quickly approaching and there is still time to register!

Registration can be completed in person or online. Online registration can be completed at www.cityofclarksville.com/qcrr and is available until noon on Friday, May 1st.

Participants registering in person may come by the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Office at 102 Public Square, Clarksville, Tennessee, 37040 through Friday, May 1st or register onsite at Austin Peay’s Governors Stadium the morning of Saturday, May 2nd.

Early Bird Discount Registration deadline approaches for the 37th Annual Queen City Road Race

37th Annual Queen City Road RaceClarksville, TN – The 37th Annual Queen City Road Race scheduled for Saturday, May 2nd, have you reserved your spot at the finish line? If not, you’d better act quickly to be eligible for the discounted rate of $20.00 for the 5K and 7K races.

The Early Bird discounted registration deadline is April 17th. Registration will be available through race day, however prices increase to $25.00 for the 5K and 7K races. The non-competitive One Mile Movement will remain at a $5.00 registration fee now through race day.

Registration for the Queen City Road Race is simple and may be completed online or in person. Online registration can be completed by visiting www.cityofclarksville.com/qcrr and is available onsite at 102 Public Square.

APSU 2014: A Year in Review

No milestones mark the passage of time, and people often find themselves bored or, worse yet, uninspired.
