Youth Football League to hold registration this weekend

The Clarksville Greyhounds Youth Football League will hold registration for the 2010 season on June 26th at Governor’s Square Mall from 10:00am-3:00pm and on June 27th from 2:00pm-6:00pm. There are five age groups 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14.
Players will be assigned to age groups based on their age as of July 31st. The Clarksville Greyhounds are a member of the Tennessee Youth Football Alliance and will play teams from various areas throughout Middle TN. All new players must bring a copy of their birth certificate. Come join in on the excitement!!!

MCES’s Honor Choir performs at Governors Square Mall

As part of the ongoing Christmas Festivities in our area, the Montgomery Central Elementary School’s Honor Choir performed at Borders in Governors Square Mall on Monday evening.
The Honor Choir is a group of students in grades 3-5 who are selected in an audition at the beginning of each school year. The choir performs at all school programs, and has been featured in of performances at Governor’s Square Mall and the Rivers and Spires festival. The MCES Honor Choir will open their Christmas program showcasing the 5th grade class on Thursday night, December 17th at 7:00 p.m in the MCES Gymnasium. The event is free and open to the public.

Fox women’s football launches fundraiser

The Clarksville Fox Women’s Full Contact Football Team will be at Governor’s Square Mall Feb 27th – March 1st to raise funds for their 2009 Season.
The public is encouraged to stop by and get your picture taken with the team’s mascot “Trixy”, make a Donation, get your 2009 “Fox Fun Card”, and get your 2009 Season Fox Schedule and sign up for the Fox newsletter and register to win one of five 2009 season Fox home game ticket packages, and the grand prize of a $100 Governor’s Square Mall Gift Certificate. No purchase is necessary.
The Fox is an Amateur Women’s Sports Organization which means All of the coaches, other staff, and players are volunteers. The team operates off of donations, sponsorships, ticket and merchandise sales, and fundraisers.
The largest fundraiser the Fox does is the sell of “Fox Fun Cards”. The card costs $10.00 and provides discounts at selected merchants and restaurants; present the card at any of the participating places in Clarksville and get that free offer. [Read more]
NEHS Choir in the spotlight!

Beginning with a holiday concert on December 4, the North East High School’s choirs have been in the spotlight. On Saturday, December 6, they performed at both Governor’s Square Mall and on the steps of the County Courthouse downtown prior to the annual Jaycees Christmas Parade.
In full formal attire, the vocalists make a dramatic and stunning appearance: young woman in striking black and white gowns, young men in tuxedos — a far cry from the usual school attire. Under the direction of teacher Debbie Wilson, four groups, beginning choir, concert choir, SSA (a women’s choir) and the Exit I Choir presented a broad selection of traditional Christmas music, including Latin Hymns, and culminating with a vibrant rendition of the Hallelujah Chorus.
