Downtown Commons Ice Rink

Downtown Commons Ice RinkMontgomery County, TN – The public is invited to attend the second annual Broomball match between Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett and Fort Campbell’s Major General Andrew Poppas to a backyard broomball game on January 16th, 2019 at 6:00pm at the Downtown Commons Winter Ice Rink.

Broomball is a variation of ice hockey played on ice without skates and with brooms and a ball instead of sticks and a puck. Running around in shoes on ice while trying to “sweep” a ball into a goal presents a unique challenge that includes a lot of slipping, sliding and falling.

Outdoor Ice Rink Opening Soon at Downtown Commons

November 6, 2018

Downtown Commons

Downtown Commons Ice RinkMontgomery County, TN – Montgomery County is thrilled to announce the opening of the Downtown Commons Winter Ice Rink on November 23rd, 2018! This is the second consecutive year for the outdoor rink, which will be significantly larger than it was last year.

During most of the year, the Downtown Commons is a large open lawn, but in late fall through early winter it is transformed into an ice rink. Although Downtown Commons was not complete when the ice rink opened last November, it was still very successful with more than 9,000 skaters and thousands of onlookers. This year, with the park completed and a larger rink, at least twice as many skaters are expected. Golly G’s will also be up and running ready to serve at Downtown Commons when the rink opens.
