APSU music double major Garrett Coscolluela a part of world championship-winning drum corps

Clarksville, TN – For the past four years, Austin Peay State University senior music education and music performance double major Garrett Coscolluela has spent one weekend in August marching on the field of Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.
But it wasn’t until this past August — in his final trip to the home of the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts — that Coscolluela had the hardware to prove he was among the best in what’s considered the major leagues of marching band performance.
APSU Department of Art + Design unveils 2017-2018 exhibition and visiting artist schedule

Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Department of Art + Design recently unveiled its 2017-18 season of exhibitions and visiting speakers. Generously supported by the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts (CECA), the Department of Art + Design is able to bring nationally and internationally recognized artists and thinkers directly to Clarksville with programming that is free and open to the public.

Clarksville, TN – The next meeting of the Clarksville (TN) Civil War Roundtable will be on Wednesday, June 21st, 2017 at the Bone & Joint Center, 980 Professional Park Drive, right across the street from Tennova Medical Center. This is just off Dunlop Lane and Holiday Drive and only a few minutes east of Governor’s Square mall.
The meeting begins at 7:00 pm and is always open to the public. Members please bring a friend or two – new recruits are always welcomed.

Austin Peay State University Chamber Singers to embark on March tour of Tennessee, Georgia

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s premiere choral ensemble – the Chamber Singers – will showcase their talents in Tennessee and Georgia during their 2017 tour this March.
“Our Chamber Singers have been preparing for this tour since the first day of classes back in August of 2016,” Dr. Korre Foster, director of choral activities at Austin Peay, said.
APSU students complete more than 400 hours of service during fall break

Collectively, these students completed more than 400 hours of community service.

Clarksville, TN – If a United States soldier flew on a helicopter during their time deployed as a part of the War in Afghanistan, there was a good chance it was flown by a member of Task Force Pale Horse.
The talented men and women of this elite force carried ground forces to the fight, removed the injured and flew countless missions with the intent of identifying – and often eliminating the enemy.

Clarksville, TN – Fort Defiance Interpretive Center, located at 120 Duncan Street, will host a lecture and book signing with author Stephen Davis on Thursday, July 21st from 1:00pm – 4:00pm. The lecture will begin at 1:00pm, and upon its conclusion Davis will sign copies of his book, “A Long and Bloody Task” until 4:00pm.
Spring of 1864 brought a whole new war to the Western Theater, with new commanders and what would become a new style of warfare. Federal armies, perched in Chattanooga, Tennessee, after their stunning victories there the previous fall, poised on the edge of Georgia for the first time in the war.

Clarksville-Montgomery County School System names Melody Nix Burt Elementary School Principal

Montgomery County, TN – Clarksville-Montgomery County School System has named Melody Nix as the new principal of Burt Elementary School beginning with the 2016-17 school year.
She will replace Diana Hara, who is retiring at the end of this school year.
