Clarksville Parks and Recreation kicks off the holidays with Christmas on the Cumberland

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – McGregor Park and the Cumberland Riverwalk had hundreds of visitors on a cool and crisp night just before Thanksgiving, including one very special guest, Santa Claus, as he and Mr’s Claus joined Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts and his family to officially light 1,000,000 Christmas lights, a holiday tradition in Clarksville.

Tiffany Perkins, an event planning specialist with the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department was one of the organizers of this year’s event.

“Tonight, we’re celebrating our Christmas on the Cumberland 2021 grand opening,” Perkins said. “We’ll have some dance groups out tonight, as well as the Rossview High School band. Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts will be here, and our presenting sponsor for this evening is Blue Cord Realty. They’ll be providing free hot chocolate for everyone.”

Visitors can enjoy holiday-themed crafts and performances by local choirs and dance groups as well as enjoy a photo opportunity with Santa on December 10th and December 17th from 6:00pm-8:00pm.

Clarksville’s 18th annual Christmas on the Cumberland Opens

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – Tuesday night, November 22nd, hundreds of people gathers at the McGregor Park RiverWalk and Museum for the grand opening ceremony of the City of Clarksville’s 18th annual Christmas on the Cumberland.

Just before the ceremony began, those in attendance were treated to Christmas Carols by the Rossview High School Choir.

Dancing with the Stars to be held Saturday March 5th, 2016

Altrusa International of ClarksvilleClarksville, TN – Altrusa International Foundation of Clarksville presents its Seventh Annual Dancing with the Stars show on Saturday March 5th, 2016, 7:00pm at the Austin Peay State University’s Music/Mass Communications Building. This year will be an All-Star Reunion Show with 10 former Stars once again returning to the stage!

The event is held as a fund raiser to provide scholarships to non-traditional students. Our goal this year is to present $10,000 in scholarships.

April showers wash out second day of Rivers and Spires

The Rivers and Spires FestivalClarksville, TN – The second day of the Rivers and Spires Festival opened on Friday to good weather in spite of rains earlier in the day.

Sadly, the good weather only lasted for half an hour when the first of three lines of rain showers moved through the area. To escape the rain, crowds huddled under whatever dry spaces were available including under the awnings at First Baptist Church, and various business entrances along the streets, and the Roxy Regional Theatre on Franklin Street.
