Clarksville's Customs House Museum and Cultural CenterClarksville, TN – Local nature photographer David Magers specializes in birds. His work has been shown in various Clarksville venues, including the Downtown Artists Co-op, Silke’s Old World Breads, Planters Bank, L and N Train Station, the Clarksville Public Library, and others. David has recently published a photography book titled “The Birds of Dunbar Cave State Park,” containing recent photos of some 58 species, all taken on the park grounds.

Cooling at the Cave Attracts Huge Crowd to Dunbar Cave

Dunbar Cave State Park - Clarksville TNClarksville, TN – The Friends of Dunbar Cave sponsor Cooling at the Cave, a family event once every year. The event was held Saturday, July 30th. This year’s music was provided by Cumberland Winds Jazz Project, an 18-piece ensemble that was perfect for the venue.

Their cool jazz thrilled a crowd of more than 300—couples, families with small children, people with their well-behaved dogs, and jazz lovers of all ages. With songs like “String of Pearls,” Tuxedo Junction,” “Stardust,” and other favorites, Cumberland Winds enchanted the on-lookers with their finesse and pleasing harmonies.

Cooling at the Cave to be held at Dunbar Cave, Saturday July 30th, 2016

Dunbar Cave State Park - Clarksville TNClarksville, TN – On Saturday July 30th from 3:00pm-5:00pm, come out to Dunbar Cave State natural Area for the annual Cooling at the Cave event. Join the Friends of Dunbar Cave and enjoy live music and refreshments at the cool cave entrance.

Prior to air conditioning being widely available, locals would gather at the mouth of the cave to enjoy the cool air gently blowing from the mouth of the cave. Many concerts wearer held there as people would fellowship and beat the heat of summer.
