Planters Bank to show Pen and Ink Drawings “Simple Tennessee Pleasures” by Janet Felts

Clarksville, TN – The Planters Bank-Hilldale Gallery will feature “Pen & Ink Drawings” showing simple pleasures in Tennessee by native Clarksvillian Janet Jones Felts from Thursday, April 2nd – Wednesday, May 6th.
Felts’ realistic reflections on life are revealed in the exhibit’s 12 black and white drawings. The display features three large drawings that reflect a youth’s investigations on the farm. Her drawings invite you to rediscover wooden scenes and country roads, along with other forgotten adventures.
Two honored during APSU Candlelight Ball Award Luncheon

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s 31st Annual Candlelight Ball is just around the corner, and to help announce the event, two individuals were honored and recognized during a luncheon held Tuesday, January 13th.
The Wendell H. Gilbert Award and the Spirit of Austin Peay Award were presented to two individuals for the outstanding achievement, contribution or recognition they have brought to Austin Peay.

Clarksville, TN – The Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County has announced the addition of Parkway Animal Clinic on McClardy Road to its already 8-strong list of high-quality low-cost spay-neuter veterinary partners.
Each veterinary partner’s participation enables the Humane Society to offer affordable spay-neuter surgeries to families that would not or could not spay or neuter their pets otherwise.

Two Rivers Chapter Volunteers Working to Meet Emergency Needs
Clarksville, TN – Severe spring storms and flash floods poured torrential rain over much of Tennessee on Saturday morning and again in the evening.
Eight homes were destroyed from the flood with 26 others sustaining major damage, across 4 counties including Henry, Houston, Montgomery and Stewart. The Red Cross responded immediately to provide food, shelter and emotional support to help families who had been affected by the storms. [Read more]
Heritage Bank Announces Montgomery County Scholarship Honoree

Clarksville, TN – Heritage Bank is pleased to announce Vickie T. Wallace as the 2013 Heritage Bank Scholarship Fund Montgomery County Honoree.
Nineteen seniors from the Montgomery County area will receive the Heritage Bank High School Scholarship in honor of Mrs. Wallace and the commitment she has made to the Montgomery County community.
Over the last ten years, Heritage Bank has committed over $194,000 dollars in scholarship funds to 388 senior high school students planning to attend a higher education institution. [Read more]

This months artwalk will be held on March 1st, 5:00pm until 8:00pm, and as always will be held in the shops and galleries on Public Square, Franklin Street, Strawberry Alley, Main Street and Second Street. Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County’s Valentine Project for Chained Dogs

Clarksville, TN – The Humane Society of Clarksville-Montgomery County is very proud to be partnering with the wonderful students and teachers of Rossview Elementary School who will be making Valentines cards for chained dogs in our community.
Our goal is to mail 200 cards. This campaign is modeled after the Dogs Deserve Better initiative, which has been successful nationwide in reaching out to families of chained dogs and making a difference in the lives of so many of those animals.
