Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – February is now upon us, and the Austin Peay State University Wilbur N. Daniel African American Cultural Center has a busy month of events planned in recognition of the Black History Month.

Some of the events are National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, Second Annual 5K Breast Cancer Awareness Fun/Walk, “Who Will Lead the Next Social Movement” lecture and several others. Make sure to mark your calendars and come out to these wonderful events. [Read more]

Austin Peay State University Hall of Fame to reach 100 members as Bailey, Haynes, Holt to be inducted Saturday

APSU Sports: APSU Hall of Fame

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Jay Bailey, an All-American running back who owns the school single-season rushing record; Ashley Haynes, the versatile forward who scored 1,000 points and grabbed 1,000 rebounds in her illustrious career, and Cheryl Holt, who led Austin Peay volleyball to 19 straight Ohio Valley Conference tournament appearances, including the 1991 tourney title, will be inducted into the University’s Athletics Hall of Fame, Saturday.

The 9:00am, induction ceremonies in the Dunn Center’s front lobby will see the APSU Athletic Hall of Fame grow to 107. The newest inductees and their families also will be honored during halftime ceremonies of APSU men’s basketball home contest against UT Martin.

Austin Peay State University Foundation sponsoring raffle for chance to win $20,000 cash in February 2012

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – To help provide scholarships to more students at Austin Peay State University, the APSU Foundation is sponsoring a raffle drawing for a chance to win $20,000 cash.

The raffle drawing will be held during the men’s basketball game between APSU and Southeast Missouri on Saturday, February 25th, 2012, in the Dunn Center. It is not necessary to be present to win. [Read more]

WAPX-FM 91.9 at APSU to broadcast Austin Peay Governors Basketball game against rival Murray State

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Radio station WAPX-FM at Austin Peay State University will broadcast live Lady Governors and Governors basketball in OVC action from the Dunn Center beginning Saturday, January 7th against conference foe Murray State University.

Coverage will begin at 2:45pm with the Lady Govs pre-game show featuring head coach Carrie Daniels. Tipoff for the Lady Govs is at 3:00pm.

Pre-game for the men’s contest starts at 6:45pm with tipoff at 7:00pm. [Read more]

Austin Peay State University 2011 Distinguished Professor Award recipient to address 700-plus degree candidates

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TNAustin Peay State University will send off 733 candidates for degrees during dual Fall Commencement ceremonies December 16th in the Dunn Center.

Dr. Bert Randall, professor of philosophy and the 2011 APSU National Alumni Association Distinguished Professor Award recipient, will be the keynote speaker at both commencement events.

The faculty member who earns the Distinguished Professor Award in May serves as commencement speaker at APSU’s fall graduation.

Randall holds a Ph.D. in philosophy from the university of Oklahoma. He has a B.S. in mathematics from Maryville College, a Master of Divinity in theology from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary and a Master of Arts. [Read more]

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TNAustin Peay State University is featured on the cover of the new AT&T Real Yellow Pages directory serving Clarksville and surrounding communities.

APSU is the first to appear on the Real Yellow Pages’ newly designed cover, which was unveiled November 16th during a public announcement on campus. The photograph depicts the excitement of men’s basketball at APSU, one of 15 sports programs offered by the University.

APSU schedules 2011 Summer Commencement for August 12th at the Dunn Center

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TNAustin Peay State University will graduate its largest class of summer graduates at 2:00pm, Friday, August 12th in the Dunn Center.

University officials are reporting there are nearly 400 degree candidates, the largest summer class since APSU began an August ceremony in 2007.

4th Annual Women’s Football Clinic

Austin Peay State UniversityAmerican Cancer Society for Breast Cancer ResearchClarksville, TNAustin Peay State University’s football coaching staff will host the fourth-annual Women’s Football Clinic, Saturday, July 23rd in the Dunn Center.

For the fourth-straight year, APSU has served as host to the clinic that features informative presentations by the coaching staff as-well-as an entertaining hands-on demonstration of some fun football drills, explanation of the rules by an OVC Official, equipment, nutrition, training and strategy. APSU head coach Rick Christophel, along with his assistant coaches, will provide instruction.

Come down to McGregor Park Tonight and Celebrate Independence Day

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN - The City of Clarksville and Aetna Insurance are joining together to celebrating our nation’s independence with the fourth annual Independence Day Celebration tonight down at McGregor Park. The event will be filled with food, fun and entertainment for the entire family. It all starts 6:00pm.

Local performers Tina Brown and Chris Robertson will provide live music throughout the evening, followed by country music artist, John Anderson. With more than 40 singles on the Billboard country music charts, Anderson has five Number Ones: “Wild and Blue,” “Swingin’,” “Black Sheep,” and “Money in the Bank.” The night will end with a spectacular fireworks finale, the largest in Clarksville.

APSU to offer preschool fitness program in April
