APSU art professor presents at national animation conference

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU)’s Scott Raymond, a former DreamWorks animator who worked on films such as “Trolls” and “Kung Fu Panda 3,” recently participated in a couple of panel discussions for the SIGGRAPH 2020 virtual conference, one of the animation industry’s major annual events.
Clarksville Parks and Recreation announces Movies in the Park to be held twice in September

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department will host two Movies in the Park presented by Kyrstin Frate with Keller Williams during September. The two events are part of the two-week Riverfest festivities scheduled for September 1st-12th, 2020.
Dreamworks’ “Trolls World Tour” will be shown on Saturday, September 5th and Disney Pixar’s “Onward” on Friday, September 11th. Both events will be held at the Liberty Park Athletic Field, and activities will begin at 5:00pm, followed by the movie at sunset, which is around 7:00pm.
APSU’s CECA highlights art innovations on campus during state conference

Clarksville, TN – More than 200 art educators, administrators and artists from across the state visited the Austin Peay State University campus this month to discover new, innovative ways to teach and advocate for the arts in the coming year.
APSU’s Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts (CECA) hosted the Tennessee Arts Commission’s 2018 Tennessee Arts and Arts Education Conference, which allowed CECA to show off the groundbreaking projects taking place at Austin Peay State University.
Austin Peay State University professor contributes to BBC animated special, “The Highway Rat”

Clarksville, TN – On Christmas day, when four million Britons saw a talking rat on the telly, they also glimpsed the creative work of an Austin Peay State University professor.
That evening, BBC One broadcast the animated special “The Highway Rat,” based on a popular British children’s book, and Scott Raymond, APSU assistant professor of animation and former DreamWorks animator, contributed about 20 seconds to the movie.

Thus begins the tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking donkey to rescue a feisty princess.
The Roxy Regional School of the Arts presents an irreverently fun adventure for the entire family with “SHREK the Musical JR.” at the Roxy Regional Theatre, May 20th through June 11th.
Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film and the book by William Steig, “SHREK The Musical JR.” is directed and choreographed by Tom Thayer, with additional choreography by Emily Rourke and music direction by Lacey Connell.
